I heard earlier today that apparently at the halftime of the game on Sunday that the Lions are having a 50th anniversary celebration.

I've got to say that I guess it's pretty sad when the only thing that the Lions have to celebrate is the 50th anniversary of a championship.

I vote for funny!!! It was sad after 40 years, but after 50 years, thats just so freakin funny. Add on the fact that the shinning moment during that great 50 year run is one stinking playoff win in 1992 or 1991 and thats
just laughable. Other than the Chicago Cubs in MLB i cant think of any other team whos had such a horrible history. We can only hope that the loins continue there losing ways for the next 2 seasons so they can celebrate being the worst team in the NFL for the entire decade:lol::evil::dizzy:

I was a major fan in "57". Saw it all. The Freep article brought it all back. Saw the dismantling of the Browns in what would be the favorite watering hole for years and years on TV. (channel 6). I was all of 20. Now that's sad. I have telling my grand-son for years, he is now 21, If you want to root for a championship team, move. My father-in-law lived and died trying to root the Lions into the Super Bowl, regretfully he died before they accomplished that. I am affraid the same fate awaits me.

And 43 years of those since the lat championship were under the same ownership. Coincidence? I doubt it. I just hope the Fords check out before I do, so I stand a chance to see the Lions actually mean something other than another bye week to most of the rest of the league.

Yep, but the Furds will still own the Lions. Incompetent ownership can lead nowhere but mediocrity at best.

Yep 3-1 but just like when they made the playoffs in the 90's if they play a quality team they get slaughtered. I'm 55. I wonder if I'll ever see them in the superbowl before I die?
