I need some help and/or suggestions on finding and fixing a leak on my 5th wheel trailer. It has a aluminum roof. There are two channels running the length of the trailer on both sides. The sealant used to cover the rivets looks good and I can't see anything visually but I'm pretty sure it's coming in somewhere down the cannel and running down to the back corner of the camper. I can see water damage inside. I really don't want to take off the panel board inside because I would have to take down the cabinets and the microwave.
What's the best way to find out where it's leaking and the best way to repair it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a leak a couple years ago. I sealed all the seams before I saw a hole in a rubber boot for the antenna. I used a couple pieces of plywood to disperse the weight while I was on top.
Whatever you use to seal the seams, buy the good stuff. A quart of roof sealant is enough for several applicacations.
Good Luck

I have had a couple of trailers that have leaked around the clearence lights. You my want to check that area out. Remove the light and take some chaulk that is in the roll and put it under the light put the screws back in and trim the excess off.
Good luck in finding the problem!

For a complete recoat of sealant, I used to use Cool Seal on mobile home roofs. I think a fifth wheel roof would be quite similar (the roofs I put Cool Seal on were aluminum/metal) It worked great, goes on real easy, and dries light colored, to help keep the temps down. I just rolled it on with a very heavy nap paint roller. Put it on liberally.
They were selling it at Home Depot last time I checked.
