From another thread some members doubt that an effort to recall Granholm would be successful. What do think?

Yeah, and what better candidates are going to step up to replace her? I'm not too optimistic about the choices.

Recall elections on a state government level should only take place in the most egregious circumstances of crime or misconduct. We're not there.

All it takes is 25% (or 1 million) valid signatures from registered Michigan voters:

I've got a pimple on my *** that could do a better job than she's doing!!!
There are a lot of really bad politicians in Lansing both Dems and Pubes, so i think the pimple on my *** would be the best chiose!!!

How about recalling the worthless yahoos in the Senate/House that can't do the one thing their job calls for - pass a budget? That's their job, and they've had time to do it. Obviously they have much better things to do than their job.

Write me in. I'd love to work one hour a day for $79,650 per year plus a $12,000 expense account. I'll even work for TWO hours a day!

She definitely has problems and hasn't had a solution to our whoas. I can't help and think how ripe she was for losing her job and then Michigan republicans sold their candidacy to the highest bidder, whom was unqualified at best. In my view, we had our chance and the Michigan republican party blew it. If they had run a qualified candidate, like Dick Postumus, I think the outcome would be much different. I could never vote for DeVos and I never will. Sadly, among the republican ranks DeVos is being talked about in the next election and if this is the case I don't see a republican as Governor in our near future. The Michigan republican party has to deliver if they want to be taken seriously and the didn't in Nov of '06.

the people that elected her are getting what they deserve. the rest of us just need to wait our turn.

waste of time. As the state becomes worse off, the more appealing she becomes to a lot of people...

I wouldn't vote for DeVos ever--didn't then, won't if he runs again. As for a recall of Scamholm, if there were an adequete replacement paraded up there, I'd vote for a recall in a heartbeat. If it were DeVos as a replacement, no way in hell.

No way in hell? Why? What did he accomplish and stand for as a successful bussiness man that offends you so much? He wanted to run this state like a business and that is the complete opposite of what is in there now. Business mentality brings new business opportunities, not additional social programs and bigger gov. Still not sure this man was/is hated so much.

Have friends in three other states and they continually ask me why I am still here. She has turned Michigan into the laughing stock of the US.

Can't speak for Thousand, but one glaring issue is that the only public service job he ever had he walked off and didn't finish. As for his business success, I'm pretty sure 75% of the people on this site could have achieved his level of success given the same silver-spoon scenario. Heck, I think the records show the payroll of his father's company went down for the years he was at the top.

I think what you'll find is that the strongest feelings against him are from those in his backyard, that have known of him for better than a decade.

It wouldn't be successful because there isn't enough support behind it, and you would have to have a big name (i.e. MI GOP, for instance) behind it to work. Also, the cost of doing so is prohibitive. People are still drinking the koolaid, therefore, wide spread support would be minimal.

The thing alot of people are over looking is all this is just for this year the next 3-5 yrs. are looking at deficits as big or bigger than this year even after they raise our taxes and thats from Graholms own financial guy.

I votedfor postumus the first time and I dont understand why he was so hated. the Union's got exactly what they wanted and now they have to live with it. I still think its funny when I get the call about donating to the police officers because their budgets were cut but when she was running they were standing behind her smiling. How do you like her now government workers, wake up and see who you voted for!!!!! expecially the teachers who wanted her so bad and now cry everytime she takes money away from them. I feel no sympathy for anyone who voted her in. now people who didnt pick her cry all you want.

I don't mean to let the legislature off the hook, but as soon as Ed Rendell proved that a partial state shutdown works in a governor's favor, the governor lost all incentive to compromise. What good is passing a budget if the governor's not going to sign it? Creating a budget may be the one thing they're legally bound to do but the governor, with the threat of a shutdown, has usurped that right/responsibility. It would be unethical for a representative to pass a budget he fells doesn't address the needs of the state just to address the wants of the governor.

The people of Michigan had a chance to get rid of her after the first four years and voted her in for another four. Lots of folks must think her way is the right way.

You want real leadership, find someone worth a crap to run next time.

I don't like Granholm. I did not vote for her. However, nothing she's done is worthy of a recall.

What did the people of Michigan expect when they reelected her after her first 4 years were so ineffective?

Yeah, another democrat. It's not like Michigan was in great shape last summer. Granted, the republicans picked a dud to run against her, but if the state continues to sink, who do you really think the masses are going to elect -- someone that wants to do the right thing and cut costs and try to keep taxes low, or someone that will promise them everything and the moon?
