Now, in an effort to appear tolerant, we have handed this wing nut propaganda to use against us. I wish people would think about the consequences of their actions before carrying out those actions.

Article Quotes:
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may have faced ridicule in the United States by suggesting there were no homosexuals in Iran, but he won praise at home on Wednesday for taking his country's case to "the Lion's Den".

Generally, politicians and media in the Islamic Republic -- even some who have previously criticised the president -- described Ahmadinejad's visit to New York as a triumph and denounced the university president who called him "a petty and cruel dictator".

"By fearlessly and courageously walking into the 'Lion's Den' ... he is sure to become even more of a hero in the Arab-Muslim street than before," the daily Iran News wrote.

I agree, it's too bad that we granted him a visa and allowed him entry into the country. The fact that Columbia allowed him to speak seems to be a minor point. The media vultures would have interviewed him and plastered it all over TV even if he had not spoke at CU.

We weren't all that concerned with allowing him into the country and speaking out since we did grant him an entry visa to get into the country. I don't believe that we we were legally required to grant him that access. We should have not allowed him into the country and made him address the UN by tele-conference.

All of that media is coming from the Iranian news agency. This is state run and therefore NONE of it should be considered TRUE media.

I don't disagree with the intent of your post, but unfortunately, we do have to let him in under our agreement as the host of the UN. But that does not mean that we have to let him do anything other than go directly to and from the UN; which we unfortunately did. Oh well, at least in our effort to be tolerant, we learn't there aren't any homosexuals in Iran. :yikes:

Notice I used the term propaganda. This is what is being reported across the areas he draws support from which builds his credibility. This is what the majority of the Arab World is "being fed"....that is unless you think the Iranians and other hostile Arab Nations are getting Fox News and MSNBC and are allowed to make their own judgements; uninfluenced; and based on the actual events. Bottomline, he has American Students cheering him on tape and it's being broadcast across the Middle East right now. Do you honestly think the parts where he dodged questions, was laughed at, and generally appeared to be a kook is being played across the Arab World?

I would guess that he would have gotten just as much, if not more, support if we had not let him speak. He would spout off some BS about how the "Great Satan" denied his freedom of speech. I think this was a no-win situation all around.

Although he is allowed to attend the UN, we did not have to give him a forum in one of our colleges. I never would have thought he would use it as a chance for propaganda. I mean who would have guessed.

No matter what would have happened here, it would have still turned out for that POS. I'm glad he didn't get to go to ground zero, that pic would have been posted on every Jihadi site on the web.
