My son has been hitting the Muskegon fairly steadily in the Rogers Dam area for the last month, and has been picking up some serious smallies but no eyes until today. He caught this one drifting crawlers through the holes, along with another keeper eye, and the usual assortment of bass and suckers.
This one was 29 3/4 inches, and weighed exactly 10 lbs on a certified scale. He pretty excited with his first 10 and is running over to a taxidermist in the morning.

WOW, nice catch! I have caught a few at the landing out of the heights, but nothing that size (other than suckers).

Congratz!!!

I've fished that river up that way with him a couple of times now, and really have enjoyed it. It's a beautiful place to fish.
He's done quite a bit of scouting and has found some decent holes holding some good numbers of fish.

I've been telling him there's some hogs in there, the smallies are certainly healthy, which means to me there's a good food source available.
It may not look like it, but that fish has a 16 inch girth.

Jimbos, it's good to see you around again.

Thanks Steve. Seems like I have a lot more big fish pictures to share this year. Both of my sons have really taken to fishing and head out on their own a lot more now and their always snapping cellphone fish pictures, which has got me a lot more conscience of taking pictures, and this is still the best place around to share those stories.

By the way, one son got the big skunk on perch in Erie yesterday out of the Raisin river. I know they lost an anchor in the process. I guess the fishing conditions was pretty putrid, and the other fished the Muskegon river but I haven't talked to him today to see how he did. I'm sure if he caught anything decent I would of had more fish pictures on my cellphone.

Here's another picture just for grins.

Wow, didn't see this post before. Nice eyeball! I was in my late 20's by the time I ever hit double digits! He's getting off to a good start.
Just fished up there yesterday 9-30-07, our only eye would have been that hogs lunch!

Thanks Much. I'm going to have to step on that fools neck the next time I see him if I can still tackle his his big butt. He knows I've never caught a double digit eye(my biggest is 9#) and he's been giving me some steady crap about it.

Yeah, master angler is next! I hit the low 10's a few times before but just got my 1st master angler eye at 43 years of age in March of '06! Sounds like a good challenger you have there!
Good luck to both of ya!
