I know there's already 1 thread about these on here, but they impressed me so much, I made a 2nd. Got some 100gr 1 1/8 Slick Tricks today, and they are Awesome. Fly perfect with my field points out to 25 yds:D. not sure after that. I was shooting the G5 Striker before, and had to retune my bow to get them to fly perfect with field points. So today I set my Arrow rest back to where it paper tuned perfect, then confirmed everything by walk back tuning, and then shot a Slick Trick. Dead Bullz eye. Shot 3 more and all where within 1 inch of Bullz Eye at 20yds. Then shot a Striker and sure enough 3 inches to the right Every time. For my set-up I just found my new favorite head.

Set Up
Drenalin 66lbs
28.5 DL
Easton Axis 400's

I'm tellen ya, these things are amazing.

I haven't been this excited about a broadhead, ever. Perfect flight, and a fixed blade???? WOW.

Anyone who wants a fixed blade head that truly flies like your field points, get a pack of slick tricks.

I've got a couple of posts on the other "Slick Trick" thread referred to above. I noted in my last post there that I would get back with my experience with the Tricks that I just purchased on Wednesday. Well, this seems like a good 'nuff spot to do that rather than go back to the other long thread.

Here 'tis: I just found my new head for '07.

I took my first shot with a Trick at 23yds...which is my single pin setting. Deadsolidperfect bullseye! Man, what a confidence booster. My subsequent shots proved to me that this is the most accurate (vis-a-vis my field points) of any multi-blade head I've shot in 40 years of archery. I've used Razorheads; Thunderheads (125 & 100); Muzzy's; Rocky Mountain's; Wasps; and Cabella's (the absolute worst). Some shot better than others; some shed blades, some didn't; some were scary sharp outta the package, most weren't.........but now this Trick (100grn 1-1/8") has virtually all I'm looking for: #1 accuracy; #2 strong; #3 sharp (these ain't scary sharp but still pretty sharp)......and throw in an extra 1/8" cut diameter vs my previous head - the Muzzy 100gr, 4bl - well, that gives me a good 'nuff reason to switch heads for '07.

I will, of course, be real watchful on the penetration issue. I'll be letting fly 4 -1/2" of cutting edge (4 x 1-1/8) vs. 4" with the Muzzy's. But, I am also putting out a bit more KE than last year: 63 v. 58.

I'll be real curious to read other posts on Slick Tricks' penetration situations. If you do post something on their penetration, please give us the KE you were achieving with your rig and the distance to the animal when you hit it, and of course, which model of Trick you were using.

... #3 sharp (these ain't scary sharp but still pretty sharp)......

Sometimes blades can be too sharp. I'll explain. If a blade is really sharp by means of the edge being super thin, it can roll the edge over as it goes across bone (rib) and tada, you have a butter knife edge before it even gets to the lungs. This is especially so with lower quality metal.

A "fatter" (thicker) blade/edge (such as a G5 Montec) may not be as "sharp", but it stays sharper with tough conditions such as bone.

This is one of the reasons why two different broadheads that have the same basic design can perform extremely different from one another.

This is my second season using Slick Tricks and they are the best flying fixed blade I have ever used .
No issues with penetration , with my setup , 70 lbs , shooting 28" arrows @ 8.3 gpi , with a 100 gr. head .

hey thanks for the post I just got some of thes but I have not shot them yet because I got a new string and have been shooting it before I est the broadheads out. I'm shooting the 85 grains and I'm looking forward to see how they perform. This definitely gives me confidence because last year I used Sonics which shot terrible and Thunderheads which wer okay but I still had to tweak them a little and this year I got some of the Tricks because I heard so much about them. Thanks for the post

Quick Update,
My Buddy came by tonight to shoot his bow from my elevated Practice stand, and to also try out his new RedHead BlackOut Broadheads (these look Identical to G5 Strikers). Before he even shot, I said, do you wanna try this slick trick too, He said no. Every Shot he took with his BroadHeads hit 3 inches to the left. So I asked again if he wanted to try the Slick Tricks, Sure Enough Bullz Eye Every time. He asked me to pick him up some Slick Tricks Next time I go by the store. It was funny to see his reaction when they hit perfect. He had a kinda puzzled look, Thinking, I can't believe these 4 Blades fly so good and true.

This will be my 5th season shooting Slick Tricks, and I have nothing but great results. Unbelievable flight, great penetration and durability over the years I have used them.
When I first starting using them, no one had heard of them , and they were only available on line by buying them from Gary the owner. I knew they would take off and get popular. They are simply the best all around head I have ever shot.

Like michigandeerslayer above I have a question: How have you been buying the replacement blades?

None of the retailers I've been to have any blades on the display pegs.

.....................................

As far as sharpening them: I haven't tried yet, but the blades are configured similar to the blades of the Muzzy 100grn 4blade that I have sharpened many times. I use a Lansky sharpening system and have paid for it many times over by re-sharpening those Muzzy's rather than buying new blades. I expect to use it on the Tricks.

My buddy is looking for broadheads for his crossbow...he cannot pull a bow back and got the permit last year. How would these work for a x-bow?

I'm thinking of getting some too for me...100gr. from a 65lb Matthews Ultra with a 27.75" Beaman 340 BlackMax arrow.

In terms of sharpening the Slick Trick blades. You can use a Lansky or equivelant that will hold your blade at a precise angle. They recommend 22 degrees on the Slick Trick blades.
I use to sharpen mine before Gary went to the German blades. They are deadly sharp now, and there is not need to sharpen. Once I use a set of blades they become practice blades, and I won't hunt with them again. I won't risk hunting with a used blade when they only cost about $3 a set.
Archery Experts, Cabelas, Keystone Country store all sell replacment blades. They are around $10 for 3 sets.

Deerslayer...thnx for the PM on the replacement source.

I paid $23.99 for a 3pak of Magnums the other night at Cabela's.

I spoke with a friend at the range today and he informed that he goes to the Tricks' website and orders them from the company direct. "About $14 for a package (blades enough for 3 heads...???)

He also informs that he can zero on a 4x6 index card at 50yds with Tricks....shooting 260fps. No other head he has tried keeps him 'on paper' at 50yd.

I have been hearing alot about the slick tricks, but the two archery shops I have been to dont carry them. Is there a web site I could take a look at them, or even order from?

Got my 85gr tricks today. Boy are they small but I can see why they fly so well. Not much bigger ferrule wise than the field point so your overall arrow length is not so thrown off. My T-head 85 looks absolutely massive in comparison. But they are all steel and spin quite nicely. Looking forward to putting a couple into my Mackenzie this weekend. MeanVArchery.com and I think Ninja stocked them at KD if you don't want to wait.

shot the tricks last night and they are awesome!!! I paper tuned my bow and they shoot great even better than my Thunderheads. I am shooting even out to 40 yards without any problems. I'm definitely going to try them this year.

Shot my 100 gr Standard Tricks today and they were hitting right in there with my Rage 2 blade out to 40 yards (didn't bother to shoot any farther). The quiver is loaded with two of each, ready to go! :coolgleam
