Dear all,
I am new to the site and am looking for a fishing report/advice about Indian Lake in Schoolcraft county. I will be camping at the state park the 8th through the 19th. I would like to target pike, bass, and walleyes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't help either, but perhaps when one of those Yoopers gets out of bed and starts pedaling the generator, they will be able to help.;)

Pikefisher,
My brother and I camped in the State Park back in '91. Our fishing was limited due to high winds but we did get two or three nice pike on perch colored Hot-N-Tots over weed beds in maybe ten feet of water if memory serves me correctly. When I say "nice" I mean around 24 inches (which is nice to someone like me who never catches pike longer than 16 inches).

I believe the lake is reported to contain sizeable perch. I remember a nearby baitshop that had the biggest perch I had ever seen mounted behind the counter. It was supposedly caught in Indian Lake.

Since we were in a canoe with no motor, we stayed in the southern part of the lake so I can't give you a report on the fishing in the rest of the lake. Tom Huggler has Indian Lake featured in his "Fish Michigan" lake map books complete with bottom contours and recommended spots and techniques so you might want to check that out. Have a good trip, it's pretty up there.

It has been a couple of yrs. since I have fished there ...but maybe I can help you a touch... as Papa Smurf says get Hugglers book or pick up a lake map at one of the stores close to the lake...there should be a nice weed bed right out from the State campground....usually good for perch, walleye, and a few pike...on the north ..north east end there are the "rocks" excellent for walleye and an occasional bass .... on the south east end I think the resort is called Sequioa or something like that... there is a deep hole about the size of an average house...in this hole is a sunk ice shanty and the perch and walleye love to hang there...
Only word of advice I can give you is this is a lake that can get rough in a hurry...and if you head for the "rocks" they come up fast and many a lower unit has been lost there and it is a long way back to the campground from there....we always did well at night for eyes trolling Rapalas
Have fun...be safe .... let us know how you did
