I'm new to salmon and steelhead fishing,
are these two kinds of fish in the Huron at
Flat Rock, what are the times-spring and fall.??? I mean when to fish in October-NOvember, or in March, etc. Are there any camp grounds near Flat Rock? Thanks. Dr. Jim Ann Arbor.

Fished the Huron at Flat Rock from 3pm - 5:30 p.m. Weather was in the 50s and sunny, with a slight breeze.

The shad are running. Moderate pressure, some people catching them fairly, others snagging, but at least not using torpedoes.

My son caught a 2-3 pounder (fair hooked) with a jig and rubber grub, and I caught a few in various sizes on an egg fly with white marabou.

A hatch came off about 4:30. About size 22 flies, maybe midges. I grabbed one and it had a dark (brown?) body. I don't know my bugs very well. I didn't seem like any fish were rising, the fast water would make it difficult to do so, I would think. The hatch lasted about 45 minutes.

Still waiting for the steelies. Need some rain and lower temperatures.

Thursday the 26th I watched a large fish (King, or steelie I can't tell the difference) get caught. The fish went at least 10 lbs. The fish was caught just above the footbridge. Another note I caught 3 largemouth bass the same day in the slow back water behind the park that day.
