Okay, so I got a new string and cables 1 week ago. Ever since I have been slapping my forearm with my string. AND IT HURTS LIKE A BEYATCH!!!! I didn't do it earlier with my old setup, and am wondering what could be causing it?
Possible reasons I've thought of are:
1) Draw length too long
2) String loop too long
3) Grip too tightly or off-kilter
4) Sight pin too far left/right
Any ideas or suggestions to remedy this? I know there's tons of knowledge out here.

Check your DL. When at full draw are you able to have a slight bend in your elbow of your bow hand? If not the DL is to long for you. You also want the loop as close to the string as possible without the release causing any interferance or torque when engauged. Dont grip the bow just cradle it in your hand. As long as you have good form I really think the problem is in the Dl or loop length.

Happens to me too on occasion Ben. I am pretty sure it is my draw length being a tad too long, but if I hold level (I have a level on my sight) I'm OK.

If the bow is not to spec, ATA etc. the brace could be off which could cause your pain. Make sure all of the specs are checked and have them re-checked after 100-300 shots as the "harness" will settle.
I had the same problem this year and shortened my loop and my release. It was definitely a result of the new loop being to long which effected my draw length.

Technically, a loop doesn't increase the draw length, but it will change the anchor point.
As was mentioned, check to make sure your ATA and brace height specs are on, or at least really close.

Once you get it back into specs..add an STS.

I agree that you can probably correct it using some of the equipment adjustments listed here...But if you're comfortable making a slight adjustment in your stance to attempt to correct it, then open up your stance a bit and as a result your bow arm won't be so close to the string upon release. This is something that I did and it took care of the problem for me.

Make sure you are holding your bow by routating at the rist not at the elbow. This will get the meat of you forearm as far away from the string as possible.

I agree that technically it does not change but if your release is on your string and you add a 1" loop your rear arm has to compensate for that change. If you have nubby arms like I do it makes a huge difference!

I believe you maybe torquing the bow when you shoot. Which will cause this as well. I do this occassionally as well. What I do is when I do slap my forearm with the string I stay in that position and look at how I am holding the bow. Usually I find that I am not holding the bow properly. I correct myself and continue to shoot. Just another idea for you. As others said your draw length may need to be adjusted as it maybe set at the wrong length since you replaced the cables and strings.

great comments everyone! One thing that I just remembered about my old bowstring...when the shop put the previous string loop on, they twisted the string to compensate for the added draw length. There IS 1 more adjustment on my cams for decreasing the draw length, so I'm going to have this done as well as shorten up the string loop (I'd guess there's 1/4" gap between my nock and release jaws). So hopefully this will take care of most of it. Then I'll adjust my grip and stance after that.
Keep the ideas coming...one of these days I'll get it right!

Dude, now why didn't you let me know I would have come over and told you what was going on.....I think yolu grip is wrong from the other day you were shooting and I think the draw is a touch long. Let me know if you need help.
