Well what a difference two weeks makes. I felt like I should have been bringing the spud out onto the hardwater instead of my softwater gear. Whipping winds and frigid temps made for a cold weekend of walleye fishing. Fished friday night, but shortly after we set the rods, rain rolled in, and I was not going to stick around long. Fished saturday and sunday and found nice fish in all there usual haunts, not as fast and furious as two weeks ago, but that could be a result of forgoing the fishing for grouse hunting in the wee hours of the morning. I was surprised at how many people had already pullled there hoists out of the water.

Seems like last year I heard major change in the perch bite when the water started to turn - if I can get up there, I'll spend a little time on seeing where those reports take me.

I forgot to mention, I went on a boat ride around the lake around 7:30 on saturday night. One boat fishing at the south end for perch. This time of the year, there should be more boats than that.

Seems like they rolled up the sidewalks here after Labor Day, more so than most years. Bad economy, high gas prices and the salmon numbers being down has taken its toll.

Dragged harnesses then divers around Friday evening with no takers. Saturday was windy so I fished east bay hoping to pick up some perch - no perch but did manage about 5 smallies, two were keepers. Sunday of course was perfect weather, but I needed to pack up and get home.

What, and give up my ameture status? What about college fishing, who's going to pay for that??
Believe me, I was looking at that lake and %)&$)(# all over the place. Then I talk to my local fishing buddy and cover my perch progress in east bay - he tells me I'm fishing about 8 ft too deep - )%&#! I've been plotting all year for ice, got the plan, got the equipment, got the motivation:) I do plan on at least one pre-ice attack on the perch though;)
