Just wondering what you guys do when hunting and for target pratice . I always try to shoot with my quiver on, I think it makes a differance when shooting with /without the quiver.
My thought is if you sight-in with the quiver off then with it off, or same with it on. I guess you just get used to it either way.

I practice with it both on and off. In the tree I have the quiver off, I don't like having the quiver attached in the stand. I generally have it on all other times though. To and from the field, just not on in the stand. It will be interesting to see what everyones preference is.

Practice off, hunting off. I used to have a back strap quiver, so I got used to shooting that way.

I use a slider sight. That limits my quiver to a 2 piece unless I want it sky jacked off the side of the bow and than they make a lot of noise.
I hunt with mine on at all times and it's not detachable without allen wrenches.

I practice with it on and leave it on in my stand.

I practice off because I hunt with it off. Can't stand being in the stand with it on, gets in the way.

Off/ Off Why have more on there than you need, unless you have to
On, on the way to the stand, off once I'm seated in the stand. While target shooting, I just stick the field points in the ground in front of me and pull them out as I need them. On the stand the arrows extend beyond the limbs and just gets in the way and increases the chance of an arrow falling down and spooking game.

Off for me, I think that is just one more thing that can make noise.

off when i shoot, off when, off when i walk, sight wont allow me to rack it on, and besides I hunt in the thumb and do a lot of field stalking and ditch stalkin and need to drop it on the run.

Off, Off. If there's a cross wind it's just more surface area to push your bow while aiming and more of a cause for weight distribution on your bow when it torques as you shoot.
Not only that but the field of vision is greater with out having the quiver/arrows there to block vision.

I practice with it off and I hunt with it off in the stand. The only time I leave it on while hunting is if I am stillhunting and or on an active stalk.

DITTO!
I will add that I have a kwikee 3 arrow quiver and it is very compact and comes off quietly and easily and I can stick it under my stand seat or in a backpack, if i'm wearing one. But it definately comes off, when hunting.

Shoot without my bow quiver on. Quiver is just a carrying mechanism for me.

I see all these post about taking your quiver off, i'm just the opposite, I leave mine on. I've always shot that way ever since I was a kid, if I take it off I feel funny and can't shoot right.

Off. It used only to carry arrows from point A to point B. Shoot just fine with it on or off, but just prefer it off.

Off,
thats just how I've always done it.
Carry it in on the bow, then take it off on stand. I shoot with it off.

:yeahthat:
I hate the quiver. In the stand it just tests my patience. And even when I take it off it's in my way. One of these days it's going to be split over my knee. :)

Like the rest just, use it to carry and then it's off like a prom dress.

On. Reasons?
1. Easy way to tote the arrows around.
2. One more thing I don't have to hang on a hook or limb when I get to stand.
3. Adds weight, therefore making the shooting arm more steady...just like using a rifle. Ever notice you can shoot straighter with a heavier rifle? Some are a bit much to carry but they shoot really nice, especially for long range.
Some say it gets in the way on the stand. I don't understand how this could be. Some say there is more to catch wind with the quiver on. On the contrary, the added weight helps you hold much steadier.
Something else to brush against on the way to the stand. Well, the arrows have to be carried somewhere, so they could brush no matter how they are carried. If the arrows are carried somewhere else on the body, then that is some other place where you can't carry something else.
Something else to make noise? On the contrary, it helps to quiet the bow if done right.
All in all, it is still a personal choice and many will not try something different because their minds are already made up. I've tried many different things through my hunting time and some have worked while others didn't. This is one that did work.
One caution though is that one must be very careful and practice a lot with the quiver on and loaded with arrows. That is the torque problem. Naturally the bow will want to tip because of the weight. Practice will take care of that problem and the problem will cease to exist.
Happy hunting to all.

Well I have always hunted since age 12 with the quiver on. I have never had a problem with it being in the way. In fact i shoot with the quiver on when I practice.

I take it off while Hunting. I like to have my Bow in my hand and on my lap. I don't like laying my Bow down on the arrows across my lap so the quiver is off. I bought an extra mount for my quiver and its attached to my stand at an angle just encase I need to grab another arrow, they are right there.

I take my quiver off when I get in the stand. With it on the bow, it is just something extra to make noise.

I NEED the quiver off when hunting... Its to hard to fall asleep on my lap w/ it on...
Off always except transporting to and from my stand.Cost me a nice buck once when the arrows brushed a limb while drawing.Lesson learned!!

I have a two piece quiver that is permanantly mounted. It holds five arrows. I love it. Will never go back to a removable again. It helps stabalize my bow. It sits nice in my lap with the five arrows down. It also makes it alot quicker and easier to get a second shot if needed. I shot an 11pt in 2003 that i was able to get 2 arrows in. If i had to turn around and reach for one hanging in the tree i would have never have gotten the second shot. He dropped right in his tracks with the second arrow.
But no matter what you do if you practice with it on hunt with it on. If you practice with it off hunt with it off. It changes the way your bow shoots and if you do it differently you wont be as accurate.
