i shoot 100gr right now for deer loads but i think thats too much for a yote. Does anyone have any recommendations for a smaller grain and brand??? i was thinking 70gr. nosler???

if you care about the hide, i'd stick with a heavy, tough bullet that expanded very little. not a fmj, though.
the 243 is strong medicine for yotes. hide hunters usually are hunting with much smaller calibers - .223's, .17 rems, etc. the .204 is getting very popular as well, with good reason.

55 Nosler Ballistic tips, 70 Nosler BTs, Hornady FMJ. You might just give the 80gr remington corelokts a try instead of the 100 grain loads.
The Nosler 70 gr is my go to varmint load, be it coyotes, fox, woodchucks, or prairie dogs at extreme range. Over charges of AA 2015BR or IMR-4895 powders.

is the hide getting destroyed on a 70gr?

bullet enters and fragments and doesnt exit. However, I will say I am not a fur friendly guy. Meaning, it doesnt matter if I blow a hole through the critter. If your saving the pelts, the 55 gr might be the one to try. It comes apart quickly and even on woodchucks doesnt exit most times.

i have used the 58 grain vmax on chucks and found they do well and you can get them loaded for about 25 a box of 20. i have loaded up some handloads over accurate 2700 powder with 95 gr Hornady SST. i was told they will expand on deer and possibly not exit depending on range. on smaller animals they shouldn't open as fast as the V-Max so they shouldn't leave a massive hole i know with the V-Max i had a 8.5" hole on the backside of a yote i got in july luckily it had mange and didn't matter. that was at 100 yds +/- 10 and right behind the shoulder. find the load that groups the best for your gun and shoot, shoot, shoot. also i get .75" groups with the SST at 100 yds. with almost always 2 holes touching. Look into reloading, and huntsman will probaly chime in on it too, it opens a whole new realm of possibilities you don't have with factory ammo.
p.s. i had to learn to sew long before fur entered the equation but i am glad i know how to now.
