View Full Version : Initial Tuning - Bare shaft or Paper?

Starting over again this year to try and get broadheads to fly better. Made some adjustments and I figured out that in years past I did not have my arrow rest in the right position.

Anyway, initial paper tuning required a minor adjustment to get a good tear. I then did the bare shaft test. Made another slight adjustment and I got my fletched arrows and bare shafts to group together, althought the bare shafts were angled to the right slightly in the target. Then I went back to the paper and then I was getting a fletching high tear.

I am shooting a compound with release aide, right handed. Should I do both bare shaft and paper tuning prior to broadheads or just stick with paper tuning? Does the above scenario indicate a problem with my set-up?

Thanks!

I would recommend downloading the Easton Tuning Guide and follow their procedures.

I use paper tuning to check my initial setup , then use walkback or broadhead tuning to fine tune downrange .
