I am going on a trip with another member I met on here to Manistee to do some salmon fishing. I've never caught anything bigger than a 3 lb Bass not that I am complaining : )

So I bought a medium to heavy action 6'6 ugly stick and a Shimano Sedona Reel that is 5:1:1 and line cap is 8(240) 10(200) 12(160) and I am using some Fireline 20lb test line. From what I gather we are using yarn and scein (<---- Is that right). But I bought some Little Cleo Glow in the dark spoons in assorted colors Blue, Green and Orange. And I plan on bringing some egg sacs to once I figure out exactly what I need to fish with them.

I saw the divers with the square pieces then the bait but that looks pretty darn complicated.

I also bought waders with boots on them but I don't know if we are fishing in the water or on shore.

My main question is that we are fishing at night and I have never done this before so what gear do I need to keep handy in order to have a good night of fishing without stumbling over my stuff and also to be prepared so I can spend more time fishing and less time messing with my gear? (Long question hehe? lol ) I already have my spool ready to go with a backup and I probably plan on keeping 2 extra spools ready to go with me.

I will have 2 flashlights with me on my person and I also plan on using the glow in the dark sticks that attach to the end of your rod so you can see where your rod is at.

Thanks for any help or pointers you have to make my first salmon trip a good one. Also one thing that I have thought about is that my main concern is to keep warm. If it is cold and you are cold you cannot enjoy yourself. Thanks for any help.

You have a good start there....I am going to point out one thing that is obvious but possibly overlooked and that is a net...2ndly I would add a clip on light for a cap visor or pocket...tough to tie knots when one hand is holding a flashlight... and fingerless gloves...although with the warm up we are expecting they may not be necessary...I know there are other things but I have not fished the river in years..
