For about a year now, I've been trying to head up to KD Outdoors and see what all the hype is about this store. I've responded to Ken and IM'd him a few times about various topics and items. He's always said to come on up, have a cup of java and a lollipop.
Well, yesterday was that day.
I arrived at KD's after a few detours, which I blame Ken for. But thats another story. The shop was quite busy and I patiently waited for the customers to be done with all their questions and needed help issues.
I finally introduced myself to Ken, shook hands, and asked polietly for a cup of java. Now, mind you Ken has always said that he has the best coffee in town and me being a java junkie....well, put two and two together.
IT WAS DECAFFEINATED SANKA INSTANT COFFEE!!!!!!:dizzy:
What the?!?!?!??!
Well, I didn't want to cause a big scene so I just sipped away. He then gives me some poor looking excuse of a "lollipop"...the kind that the bank tellers give to drive thru customers, usually the ones with screaming little brats in the back. I mean this thing was pitifull. Those no name ones from the Dollar Store would have been a real treat compared to this one. Heck, I couldn't even tell what flavor is was. Then he trys to sell me some new doe in heat urine thats FRESH and is this years killer scent.........as Dave comes out of the bathroom and gives Ken a bottle and says, "Here's another one for a future sucker.":cwm27:
Ok, the stuff above really didn't happen. The coffee was great and the lollipop was good as well. The detours did happen though and I still blame Ken on those and not Mapquest. But I did have a good time up at KD's.
Anyhow, we started talking archery and bows. Got to meet Dave and Mike behind the archery counter also. I did shoot that Liberty bow that he has.
I spent a little more time up there than I was intending. but I'm sure they didn't mind. It was actually nice to talk to people that are down to earth and are not pro staff "gotta shoot this new expensive bow with the most high tech and expensive sight and rest" kinda folks.
And I came home with a new bow, a 65# Martin Pantera. I was worried that i couldn't shoot it because I shoot fingers but both Dave and Mike explained that the parallel limbs won't give me finger pinch. I was amazed at how well the bow shot, how quiet it was, how recoil free and no hand shock it was!
Now, I gotta tinker with setting up it up with the WB and Cobra sight I have on my bench.
Hopefully next pay period I'll be able to head back up there with the wife and pick up some arrow shafts for my new bow.
Thanks guys!
Also got to meet Carbonflinger and InTheRiver while I was there.
