A beautiful day on the lake today, weather was great but the fish didn't do their job, picked up a few eye's today mixed in with about 50 ***** heads with a couple of the sheeps in the double digit weights. 1shot and I did manage to land this beautiful little guy and he's a great sign for the future. Todays fish came on tots and a couple on spoons behind a jet diver. Any kind of shinny tot attracted some monster sheeps, firetiger and chartruse worked on the eyes. We were fishing around stoney pointe in 21 feet of water.

walleyeman,
I just bought a couple jet divers. How much of a leader do you use on them? What depth divers are you using? I went out to Erie for the first time on Friday and had engine trouble, so I didn't get much fishing in, but marked a lot of fish in the short time out. I would like to use these divers with some spoons, but need some help in how they are set up. Thanks....

Let me say this first, this is the first year that I've used jets and I'm by far the person to be talking about this subject but since you asked I'll tell what I did. Couldn't find any 20's so I bought 30's did a little test and decided that with the 30's and using 12 pound test on my reel for the jets that with a 7 foot leader and letting the jet back aprox. 55 to 65 feet that I was somewhere in the 18 to 22 foot range as this is where we were marking fish. I like to think that I thought this out the right way. But like I said in a post last night, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Going about it this way seemed to work for us.
Some how I hope you can figure out this giberish.

Heres something else, luhr jensen has some brochers on them at Dicks sporting goods and this is what is says to do for the jets.
17 lb test,
6' to 8' leader
100 ft. back
The jet should run at it's optimal depth. i.e. #10- 10ft down #20-20 ft down and so on. All jets should do this with the above set up.
Hope this helps.

walleyeman, tried to get ahold of you fri. morning on the water but couldn't reach you. we ended up trolling from bolles to the 2 large cement stacks (fermi i think?) where we saw a large pack of boats by the green bouy. ended up catching 14 fish but only 4 walleye the rest were all sh##head. i will be on vacation for the next 2 weeks but would like to get back down there when i get back. i will try to get ahold of you to see if they are still biting if that is ok.

Walleyeman,
Thanks for the reply. I bought them at Dick's but couldn't find anything to tell how to use them. I managed to get 2 ea 20's. I was going to get a 30, but really thought that might be too deep. I was wrong because I could have used them out there. We were in 30 fow on the outside of the pack of boats (after I got my engine straightened out) I haven't learned to catch walleyes very well, and I think part of it is the boat speed. I did manage to hook something large and toothy that wouldn't let me get the rod out of the holder, but somehow it let loose. My wigglewart was pretty tore up. A kind person at the Erie baitstore had given me a gps reading to get out by the pack of boats, but most of them were casting erie dearies or something of that nature. That same gentleman came back in with 9 fish, but said they didn't turn on until he was north of the pack and after 11:00. He was using something called a mayfly spinner. Anyway, thanks again for the reply.

Rockinr,
I was the guy at Erie Party Store that gave you yhe GPS #`s. Erie can be tough to get the hang of with so many ways to fish for the eye`s.You can shoot me an email anytime for info when you are coming to Erie to fish. A little tip for you on the Jet Divers . You can get down to 30 ft with the 20. A few years ago they only made the Jets in the 20`s but there were 3 holes drilled in them.Depending on witch hole you had the snap in determined the depth. If you look close at the Jet you should be able to see where the other 2 holes were.Drill out the holes and you will have a Jet 10, 20, and 30 all in one. Good luck on future trips to the Lake.It will only get easier each trip for you.
