Well, at least people are staying away until this team shows them something. That's a good thing!

I have been and will be a Lions fan for life. I will NEVER give the Fords another dime, haven't paid for a ticket in years, won't till they sell the team.
My Dad was right when he predicted a pathetic future for the Lions the day Ford bought them. I was five at the time and still remember his prophetic words well. That was 43 years ago, and the Lions have done nothing of note, other than having only one winning coach since Fords takeover (Gary Moeller) ..... Who Millen promptly fired when he took over.

That's surprising to me that it isn't sold out.

Amen, Its about time the fans stopped showing up...It will sell out, someone, somewhere will make sure of that...

The time to not show up has been the past, what, 10 years. This team actually has an outside chance to make the playoffs this year(not saying they will at all, i think they will win 5 games), this is actually probably the best team in a while cause they actually got a halfway decent QB. If they were cheap and i was still in Detroit i would probably get some, but that is a 2.5 hour drive for me now.

However, i guess it's good that maybe us fans can send a message to the fords. However, i doubt it, i am betting those sell by the morning....and will probably end up being sold out.

And there Defense is pretty Offensive to:D

Its about time so many of you have decided not to give Ford any more of your hard earned money. The ONLY thing that has kept the loins from turning things around has been Ford. Ford equates "winning" by selling out every Sunday. Fill the seats, pay for parking,by $5.00 beers, keep the cash flowing in Fords pockets......Thats "winning" in fords eyes.
People always want to blame Millen. Who hired him? Who extended his contract? Who has the power to fire him? Millens a idiot when it comes to
running a team, thats for sure. But the bigger idiot is the Guy(ford) who keeps him around!!!
I think if Ford was to look out over his stadium every Sunday and see
its only half full and the money stops rolling in changes would be made.

3,500 left, they have to sell out in the next 6 hours to avoid a blackout.

I doubt the tv network will buy them, they would probably get better ratings with whatever "Sunday afternoon movie" they have in the queue as a backup.

I think it is more a reflection of Michigan's economy than it is fan disinterest. Look at the Wings last year. It looked like they had a chance to go to the Stanley Cup finals and they didn’t even sell out playoff games.
Before you say "look at the Tigers, they set attendance records and sold out most of their games this year". I would say true to that. The difference though is ticket prices. Last week I sat on the 1st baseline at Comerica Park, 25 rows up from the field and paid $30.00 for the seats. I went on line yesterday thinking about purchasing tickets for Sunday's game. For mediocre seats (upper level, 20 yard line near the rail) they wanted $65.00. Nope! I'm not going to pay that and I am as die hard a fan as you will ever see.
I still hope it gets televised though!

yeah, $65 is a bit steep for a team that has won one playoff game since the 50s.....especially for what they have left now which appears to be corner end zone. Maybe if they shaved $25-$35 off that they'd get a few more takers....

Joe, You wont cough up $65.00 for a game? Will the REAL Joe please step up! This is NOT the real Joe talking here, its a imposter Joe:confused:

I think what your seeing is fan disinterest in the loins. With the Tigers in a playoff hunt a lot of attention is being spent on them. But since when did the loins have a hard time finding 65,000 Butts to fill the stadium?
Plus, they are 1-0 and playing a division rival!!! And its early in the season. I could understand if its was late and they were 2-10 and playing the Raiders or Cards at home. But 1st place vs a division rival!! It dosent add up. Not this early into a season.

I expect this to be a pivotal year for the loins. For the past few seasons
they sold out with the worst team in the NFL. A lot of the reason why was the NEW STADIUM!!! People wanted to see it, and had some kind of high hopes that the new stadium would transform the loins into a "good" team.
Well the newness is wearing off. Thats not going to be a draw for them as much any more. $65.00 to see the game and the new stadium used to be a draw. Now its $65.00 to see the same old loins?

Lets look at it this way. If they were still playing in the Pontiac Silverdome
there would not have been that new stadium to go see. The 'Dome would seat like 85,000 people. If the loins were playing in that stadium the past few seasons i would guarantee you that they would have only had about 40,00 fans or less showing up for the games!!!
As a matter of fact, if you think about it, you could almost place the blame
for their 3-13,4-12,5-11 seasons on Ford Field. As long as 65,000 fans show up and fill the stadium Fords happy. If only 40,000 would have showed up at the Silverdome Ford would have been forced, yes forced to do something to bring the fans in. Fielding a better team would have been one way to bring in 85,000 fans!!!

Now i look for them to beat the Vikes and be 2-0. That should bring in a
easy 65,000 fans the next home game. But then the hard part of the schedule starts and the losses will start to pile up. As the season wears on
and the losses start to pile up. Look for more of this blackout stuff later in the season!!! Unless they can play good enough to be in a playoff race, but i wont put money on that!!!

Lions game not sold out, but deadline extended

September 13, 2007

By CARLOS MONARREZ

FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER

The Lions were about 2,000 tickets short of a sellout by Thursday’s 4:05 p.m. deadline, but the NFL granted the team a 24-hour extension to sell the tickets for Sunday’s home opener against Minnesota.

If a sellout hasn’t been achieved by 4:05 p.m. Friday, the game will be blacked out on Fox’s television broadcast in the Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw/Flint and Toledo markets.

2,000 tickets in 24 hrs?
Between giveaways and fans I think its a done deal. Who wouldn't want to see the 2 best canidates for rookie of the year on field?

I agree, this one probably will get sold out. But if they're having this much trouble with the home opener, I can only imagine there will be a few games this year where ticket sales won't fare so well. (unless the unthinkable happens and they keep winning)

Hockey is about as exciting as soccer--both of which rank about 28 spots below watching paint dry on the list of exciting past times. In a perfect world, the Joe would be empty because the lock out and canceled season turned into a complete shut down of the sport.

One mans trash is another mans treasure. I'll watch hockey over ANY other sport out there. However, I do agree with you about soccer being about as exciting as watching paint dry. :)

Only twenty days until the Wings season opener.:)

Sorry but Ill have to take soccer anyday over hockey. Nice thing about it I dont have to, different seasons.

However if you were to say golf or tennis, then yea as boring as paint drying..

I like watching all sports. If I had to rate them in order it would go something like this,
1) Football
2) Women's beach volleyball :corkysm55
3) NFL dance or cheerleading competitions.. :D
4) Hockey
5) Basketball
6) Baseball
I should have thrown women's wrestling in there somewhere...

As far as the 2000 tickets, I bet "someone" guaranteed the league that they would buy the remaining tickets if they gave them another 24 hours. They will probably buy and give away 1000 or so...
