I have 80 acres of private land behind me that I own and i set up 8 stands last week. well i went out to one of the stands yesterday to finish putting it up and come to find out it was gone, so, i had to check all of them and I only had one left! thats not only the bad part there was quad tracks everywhere on the land. In addition, i checked my trail camera tonight and a guy with a mask on was dragging an 8 pt.:rant: Last year i had a poacher shoot another nice 8 pt. w/e though

If you have a picture of a poacher and ATV tracks, I'd be calling a CO. My guess is that they would be interested in investigating and pursuing this one. I'm sure Boehr can tell you who to contact in your area to get things started or just call the RAP hotline. If people don't take a proactive stance nothing is going to change

If this is legit, and I assume it is, then I would say it's someone in the neighborhood, especially if they're accessing your land with a quad.
How can someone runamuk in your backyard on a quad and you not have any idea they're there?

Last year on 11/17/06 I had the biggest buck of my life stolen right out of the tree it was hanging in, 10 feet from our farm house. That takes some balls. I shot it opening morning and it was hanging over night and some jack***** came and cut the head right off. Leaving the the carcass hanging in the tree, almost like a slap in the face.
I called the DNR and a CO came out. He said he had a pretty good idea who had done it, as did I and most everyone I know. The CO said with out concrete proof, i.e. pics or a witness there isnt anything you can do.
But I know the person knew the heat was on and he moved out of state. He has actuallly been convicted of B&E and was found with over 65 head mounts about 10 years ago and spent some time in prison.

Real low life. Same kind of person that has been stealing stands and trail cams.

Round them all up and throw em to the pigs!!:yikes:

Very true, good point. I guess my thought was, do you ever hear about people poaching does? I dont. I hear of very large bucks being in an illegel manner. If people needed the meat to feed their family, shoot a doe.

I'd would be doing a little recon. Leaches like that get too comfortable and will be back. Did you have your stands chained and they cut? It's a shame but we actually lock or stands on our own land. One year gramps went out and a guy was in the tree stand. Gramps was in his golf cart with his chain saw....once gramps fired up that Johnsered, you've never seen someone get out of a tree so fast.:D

Seriously if you actually have a trail cam pic of a guy even if he is wearing a mask, there would be something identifiable ;), and how hard is it to follow Quad tracks to where they came from.
