10. The Wolverines don't like to be outdone by Notre Dame in any way, shape, or form. If the Irish are going to give up 33 points on opening day, then Michigan just had to do them one better.

9. Michigan was under the mistaken impression that this was a bowl game.

8. The Mountaineers were well-prepared to take on the big boys, what with playing against I-AA powerhouses like Wofford, Gardner-Webb, and Furman all these years.

7. Lloyd Carr spent the whole week pondering what the heck a "Football Championship Subdivision" is, rather than focusing on how to stop the quarterback draw.

6. Mountaineers' coach Jerry Moore kidnapped Michigan's entire team earlier in the week and replaced them with the Detroit Lions.

5. The Wolverines didn't really want the pressure of being labeled "national championship contenders" hanging over their heads all season, so they decided to nip that distraction in the bud right off the bat.

4. Michigan's booster club just can't seem to buy as many good athletes as they did in the good ol' Ed Martin days.

3. Appalachian State players were extra super-duper fired up after airport security refused to let them bring their squirrel-huntin' rifles on the plane.

2. Michigan's entire defense was up all night Friday watching reruns of E! True Hollywood Story: Jessica Simpson and the World Poker Tour.

1. Since the game was available only on the Big Ten Network, the Wolverines just didn't figure anybody would notice.

had to go get fitted for a tux today....biarwood mall..all the u of m idiots were everywhere, parking sucked traffic sucked...glad they lost...and glad they did it in fine fashion, i bet loyd carr is going to get fired...lol

My buddies son plays for a high school team and suggested that U 0f M might have a chance to win if they played the Ann Arbor Pioneer High School football team! After the last two weeks performance by U of M, kinda doubt that but at least we would be watching a team play with some heart (the high school team that is)! On the bright side, that is two weeks in a row U of M has made me a profit, got to love them free lunch/beer bets!

U of M has always had a big EGO. They think they are better then everyone else. Not just the football team either. Even the Students that go to U of M think this. When you talk to someone that has gone to U of M it seems like they think you owe them something for going to that school. I am sorry but I could careless what school someone goes to. Because until you done time in boots and battle gear I don't owe you crap. If anyone owes anyone anything you little college kid owe me and every other veteran out there respect.

I am happy to see U of M is going down the toliet just like the rest of this State.

Even the Students that go to U of M think this. When you talk to someone that has gone to U of M it seems like they think you owe them something for going to that school.

even the ones that spend a lot of their time running soup kitchens, ozone houses for battered women, runaway shelters, the ones organizing blood drives, manning phones for suicide hotlines? Much like in every city where I have ever lived, I have met jerks in Ann Arbor, and I have met charitable people. Sorry to hear people you meet aren't showing you respect, thank you very much for your service to this country, I certainly appreciate it.
