It's here! Football season!
Hopefully, Monday the Lions will be 1 : 0.
Honestly, I am not all that optimistic.... call it in the air.
Heads it is....
Even though Oakland is favored - this one can go either way.
This morning "Killer" picked the Raiders mainly because he didn't like our secondary and he thought their trio of receivers would be hard to handle. Yeah, that is obviously a huge concern. However, I am not sure that the secondary is all that bad. I have always liked Bryant when healthy. Stanley Wilson seemed to be playing well at the end of last year, and Kennedy is a decent safety. The rookie Alexander starting at safety will be tested for sure.
To me, the key to the game will be our D-line and line backers ability to stop the run and pressure the QB. If they do this we win... If not it could be a tough game.
Since it came up heads... I will say the D-line steps it up, the Tampa-2 makes the historic "second year" improvement and the offense delivers as expected... Prediction - Lions Win!

If they cant beat the Raiders who can they beat??? IF (and thats a BIG IF)
there is a worse team than the loins, its the Raiders.
Lose to the Raiders and that pretty much will sum up the rest of the season. As a matter of fact they have to win the first two games just to be able to have a shot at 5-11. Raiders than Vikes at home. Better win them both!!!

That being said, wouldnt it be a great thing to see McClown and Mike Williams just light up the loins "Swiss Cheese" secondary??? Swiss cheese
refering to all the holes in it.

What would worry me is that Killer, yes Killer, picked the Raiders. I cant even begin to think why 'ol Brown Nose would pick the Raiders:help:
Perhaps he figures that he cant keep on touting the loins company line year after miserable year, loss after stinking loss. Or finally he might have come to the reality that its time to be objective or lose any credibility that might be left.

So i see that the much touted loins D line not being as effective as some here think they will be. Thus allowing McClown/Williams to slice thru the
Swiss Cheese Defense.

The Raiders are way too tough on d for this Lions offense to win the game. Roy is the only wr that has a clue about the Martz system, that means Calvin will run around around in circles trying to find out where he should be on opening day. The whole time he will think to himself, "where would Tory Holt end up in this play." Lets get on to the running game. This is the postiton that drives the martz offense (no offense MIke, you are a guru that is in a bad situation). The running game is once again going to be dead last in the NFL, and last year it was with the mighty Kevin Jones. Now its just a crackhead and a short yardage back. Just imagine what they can do with a drug head leading this team from the backfield. I don't even want to get into talking about the secondary because I have no clue who they are. Must be a reason why those guys are unknown.
