If you’ve ever walked along a pier and seen small fish flashing in the water or motored in Lake Michigan and wondered what the blips on your sonar are, you know why the Michigan Department of Natural Resources needs the 65-foot S.V. Steelhead.

The S.V. stands for survey vessel. The boat is charged with keeping an eye on fish populations in Lake Michigan.
