Anyone been out on the bay for walleyes yet. I know traditionally its the last week of june through july that the walleyes put the feed bag on. Thats when operation stock the freezer takes place. I was pondering going out this weekend weather permitting and was wondering if anyone has been doing anything yet.
Thanks to all who reply.

RCL tourney this weekend on the Bay. Lots of pros and lots of boats. Reports are fish are scattered. Water is very cloudy due to runoff and sewage overflow.

What westbay said.
I'll try it this weekend myself. Thining maybe the est side of the bay north of Sebewaing near the islands. Typical location for this time of year. Except it has been anything but typical. Water temp last weekend was 74 on the surface, another 6 degrees to go. Some reports of fish off Finn Road and Callahan Reef, slow and spotty. Also watch the inner bay for the green slime, check your lures/harnesses often.

I got out with the uncles and dad this past weekend on the bay around the sand bar just north of Pinconning. The fish were really scattered and we only hooked one walleye (but it was a monster). We did pick up a few big pike but they aren't the greatest to eat out of the bay. We usually don't start hitting this area until July so maybe it was just a bit early. Who knows, I'm going to give it two more weeks before I try out there again. I'm going to get back on Sanford for some of those 14 to 16 in. eaters. Let me know how you do out there this weekend. Looks like you're going to have nice weather. I'm going golfing:)

Ryan, thanks for the information. Yes its hard to beat them 16 inch walleyes from sanford. They are quite tasty. Well atleast you guys hooked up a nice one. The reports im seeing is the fish are still scattered. We generally fish the callahan reef, and the shallows around the east side. 3 to 6 feet can be awesome but it seems its about a 1 to 2 week window and those fish get pounded out of there. But they are all in the 2 to 3 lb class up close to the shore. PS take Big Don out and take his money on the course. Hope he's enjoying that new Triton. What a pretty machine that is. Well stay in touch on the bay thing and i will do the same thing. Did you get that fish on meat or plastic??
Thanks again.

We got them on harnesses. That's mainly all I ever fish in that area and in late summer, we catch limits like crazy. I can't get Big D out there though, says he'll get sick (wuss). Can't take his money either, he thinks he's PGA material this summer. He is playing pretty good right now. Still got to get out on the Triton, been to busy.

Trolling for eyes in the traditional hot spots has been slow at best. Still too early. A few cats and sheephead mostly. Try 7-9 feet of water near the weeds in the evening. Anchor your boat and cast Erie Dearies and Crawler harnesses to the weeds. No big eyes, but a few good eaters (2-3lbs).

Ryan, Don has always been afraid of the bay. I think its more of a wife thing with Annie. But he's always been that way. Hope you guys have a good time at the course this weekend. Magnet thanks for the information. Any information at this point will definetely help out. Last year we found em up shallow in 3 to 6 feet, running tots off the board only 5 feet back. Man was that fun. Hope the fishing gets going soon. Can't wait to get out there.
