Hey guys. Taking the wife on a short getaway the weekend of 7\14. Going to stay on the Cheyboygan River at the Best Western. Have only visited the area once before, if anyone knows of a few spots to try (preferably inland) for whatever might be biting please let me know. I do have downriggers and other trolling gear.

thanks!!!

Try www.fishweb.com

There is a real nice place to eat on the Cheboygen river by Mullet lake called Hakasak inn (sp). Also lots of smallys in the river.

Hope you enjoy yourself while visiting Cheboygan. the place on the river is the Hackmatack bit pricey though, try Pappas or the Boat House down town or the great Lakes Grill by Kmart.
As for fishing trolling with boards on Mullet is good near Dodge point near Mullet lake village. Try trolling from the north end to south of Aloha State park in 20' to 10'. Bass are all over in the rivers, try the Outdoor Adventure store on Water street for help and suggestions. Walleyes were few and far between this year as spring was late in coming and weather hasn't cooperated, rain rain rain. There should be a hot spots map out there for both lakes.

Thanks guys for taking the time to reply. Might just check out all those eateries! We will be there 4 nights.

Any other tips for fishing would be great. I do have a Hotspots map (and cdrom) for the area.

Have a good one, stay cool!!!
