Well I am doing the families anual camping trip to Bruin Lake next weekend. Has anyone been out there and done any fishing, I've tried but cant seem to find any time for some reason. I mainly fish Bruin, part of halfmoon and some of Highland lake. Also I just mostly panfish cause they taste better to me than Bass. Any info would be appreciated.

Tattoo Mike,
I haven't fished the Bruin chain, but here is a nearby report. Four Mile Lake has been fishing very well with bass and pike coming on Rapalas and surface Pop-Rs. Huge bluegills are being boated on waxworms. Smaller gills fell for the bare wire hook. Big Silver Lake has given up a few bass on minnows fished near the bottom in 8 FOW.
I think the Bruin chain should be in good shape, especially for panfish. I highly recommend waxworms for the gills. My son was catching fish on waxworms and a bare gold wire hook last night. Minnows should be the ticket for bass, perch or crappie.

bruin lake..6-25.....fished from 6:30 til rain chased us off a little after 9 this evening ..a couple gills a couple undersize bass acouple pike both measuring in the 22 inch range and one rather large pike (estimated, my guess 34 to 36 inches, 8 lb or better range, lost!!!) had to turn rod over to my partner(hand injury) fish madepower lateral run , got into line, snap! he was gone..was not expected fish ofthis size, no leader, oh well at least we seen him..bait fisherman said bite was slow, picking up only sporadic panfish.....bass guys(tubes and such) were experiencing slowbite, most fish caught were undersize....others casting weeds in bruin and connecting waters were saying the morning bite was better....our fish came just outside weedline in 17 to 22 foot of water(not a lot of it)...short porch had to work same area quite abit...top water bite didn't materialize, our fish came on deeper running rattle baits....firetiger seemed to be preferred color, weather was cloudy..others said silvers were producing in the a.m....P. S, mike if u run into a large pike this weekend with a jointed shad rap firetiger hanging out of his mouth, i'd appreciate my lure back!..lol, just joking

Thanks for the info, I mean really that was a very informative report. I have found a good spot is near the boyscout camp on the other side. Also I have seen really big pike in there and a few tigers. I lost one around the same size last year in a different lake on the chain that hit a gill I was realing in. Got it to the boat and snap*. On a side note did you have a hard time launching? Again thanks.

shametamer,
Super report. Were you camping at Bruin? The reason I ask is I am not sure if you can launch a boat unless you're registered at a campsite. The rangers told me a few years ago there are no day-use facilities at Bruin. I think they were referring to picnic and beach facilities, but not sure about the boat launch.
