Yea, I pulled a stupid today. I had a 6 volt spring top battery in my hunting pack along with a saw and tree steps. I didn't think anything of it until I smelled something burning while I was driving. I thought it was a bonfire outside when I looked in my rear view mirror to see smoke coming out of my pack. I pulled over and thew the pack on the ground as it caught on fire. There was no damage to the car thank god but the pack and battery are toast. So make sure you cover the terminals before throwing your feeder/camera batteries into your pack or put it in its own container.

Sorry, but that had to be something to see. I never really thought about it before and I guess I'm glad that the ones I packed in my soft tackle bag were still prewrapped or that could have been a disaster, seeing how the bag was at the bottom of the weeks worth of crap for my Canadian trip.

Yea I am pretty happy that it didn't ruin more of my stuff!! Any other day I could have had a range finder, $300 binoculars, 2 way radios, calls, hats, gloves, AMMUNITION... you get the idea.

I had my keys make a connection with a AA battery once while sitting in my friends car and man that started to hurt. At first it a warm feeling, then it became pain. When I went to pull my keys out they were almost too hot to touch, imagine trying to get them out of your pocket because they're burning your leg, but you can't hardly touch them.

Been there done that!!!!! But with a 9 volt after I changed my moms smoke detector battery. Shorted across my knife. Burnt my leg.

If you want a cheep pocket warmer save you DEAD 9 volts. Tape a piece of wire acraoss the contacts. Just be carefull, if they are not that dead they can and will burn you.
