I was fishing down at Breast Bay Saturday morning. I was monitoring channel 68 and heard somebody that had caught a muskie. He was looking for somebody that had a big net because his net wasn't big enough. By time another boat got to his the fish had gotten off. Just curious if anyone heard this too or if they new how big it was. I didn't realize there were muskies even in Erie.

Don't know about the muskies, but last year we caught a 43 inch northern pike,(released) while casting for walleyes, just north of the fermi towers.

I caught one trolling a hot'n'tot for eyes last year in Brest Bay. It was about 36" or so.

We got a 33 in muskie a few years back on Erie and got a big northern once too. I don't think there's a big population, probably a few strays that come down from Lake St Clair and Detroit River. We have hit a few steelies in past years on Erie too while walleye trolling. They have quite a steelie fishery on Erie in the central and eastern basin.

EdB, I bet there is a huge, virtually un-tapped population of Muskie and Pike in that lake. Think about it, all that forage base, all that shallow water in the Western Basin. People are so busy with Walleye and Perch they don't even know the fish are there!

Get in good with some of the "old timers" down there, They know!;)

Hi Guys, Erie may well hold the next world record Musky. check out this website www.mostlymuskies.com Captain Larry Jones. He fishes out of Buffalo harbor and has a 50 lber to his credit from Erie. Kingfisher

We caught 4 Muskies last fall in Nov. while trolling for eyes in Brest Bay.The largest was a 421/2 inch fish that went 20.04lbs.Had a friend fish the bay a few weeks ago for bass around the weed beds that surround Stoney Point and he hooked 2 large muskys that broke his line. There were also several Big Muskies caught around South Bass Island last spring by Bass fishermen. The good thing about Erie is that you never know what you are going to catch.

I caught a 40 incher two years ago in 17 feet of water, My father in law got a 38 incher last summer, both trolling Hot-n-tots for eyes, My brother has caught a few steelies there this year. And every once in a while you will hook into something that will just make your drag scream with a long fast run until you try and turn it's head then snap. It happens at least once a year. Been fishing that lake for over thirty years and have yet to see what is doing it. The prevaling theory is BIG muskies or even sturgeon. Have seen good sized sturgeon taken in erie also
