Yes I was just wondering about any state land in the lansing area. Within an hour would be reasonable time distince. I heard about Dainsvelle but I dont know where in that area the land is. So if you guys have any information just let me know. Thanks

The rose lake wildlife area is only about 10 miles from Lansing. I have never hunted it, but when I was going to school at MSU I would hear of guys getting deer out there every year.

rose lake gets alot of hunting pressure...but you can at least get in the woods.

I'll post some links for maps.

You can also check out Sleepy Hollow state park. They have quite a bit of land that is open to public hunting. Between Dewitt and St. Johns off of US-127.

Also, further north on US-127 on the Clinton/Gratiot County line is the Maple River flooding/State game area. This has lots of public land is really nice for waterfowl. I've hunted this area a few times. There seems to be decent deer poplulation there if you're willing to walk farther then the average person.

The DNR website will provide maps of these area's. Click on the "hunting" tab then the follow the link for "state game/wildlife areas".

Good Luck.
