Fished Erie today, limited(2 Tickets) on Walleye in about 3 hours, 24-25fow, NE out of Bolles. Silver and green wiggle-Warts 85 back, flat-lined(no boards, I don't use 'em unless I have to). We caught as many Sheepshead in that time also, a couple went 7-8lbs.
We finished our limit with a "quad" all 4 rods went in about 5 seconds, what a cluster****. I ended up burying a hook past the barb in my hand, 1st time ever.
While I worked the hook out of my flesh, my buddy set us up for perch, we ended up keeping 16 decent eaters. The word on the radio was 'E buoy' and 'McDonalds' were producing some very nice perch.
Heres our catch for the day, most of the Walleye were 18-20in with a couple smaller ones, and the perch were 7-9in

Nice job on the eye's knockoff, how did the finger surgery go. I did that when I was a kid, only thing is the lure was still in the wallys mouth and when he shook his head the fish slipped out of my hand and buried the treble through my ring finger and imbedded in the bone. Had to have surgery to remove it, talk about embarrasing in the emergency room.lol

Hi Darrin, we were about 6 miles out. A lot of people take smaller boats out there, but you can come out with me, it's safer.LOL PM me with your number and we'll get together for a cold one and make a plan.
Thanks Walleyeman, we didn't have to move far for the Eye's, we worked a couple waypoints, every time we thought about moving we'd put a fish on. We had something on about every 10 minutes.
My little mishap pales in comparison to yours!;) . It was actually our 13th fish, my buddy was counting our fish in the cooler, AGAIN, I was holding this little dink by the leader, when I went to grab it to remove the hook and release it ......Ouch! My buddy was very quick to grab the fish to keep it from flailing, and I cut the hook off at the bend. I tried to thread it thru the way it went in, but ended up pulling it out backward. It only hurt for the last yank as the barb came out the wrong way. Man did I bleed though!

Is the buoy you refer to as "McDonalds" - the one some people call the "new" sputnik? If it is that buoy, why the name McDonalds? I could see the name if it was painted yellow and red, but its not.

We were out Saturday, just off stoney point in 21 to 23 feet of water, our fishing was not nearly as fast as yours, three of us took 6 hours to catch 16 walleyes. The lack of wind Saturday made for little or no drift, kinda tough on us drifting boats. All our fish came on erie dearies, fish were suspended at about 15 feet.
The name McDonalds came when they started building it. It began with a bunch of steel beems/arches, hence the name McDonalds.
Knockoff, we tried to reach you a number of times but couldn't get you on the radio. We limited out both days. We fished in 23-24 ft of water off Stoney Point. Saturday, it was gold/blk and red billed and perch/orange bellyand orange belly crayfish hot'n'tots 100 back on boards. On Sunday, set up on the same numbers and were done with 3 trolls 1/2 mile long. We were in the 54's and 14's. Down, back and down and done at 8:30AM. It was fast action. The same perch and crayfish tot's but the gold/blk didn't go and a copper watermelon scorpion spoon on a rigger down 21 ft was good. Fishing is hot on Erie now, get out and get some, good luck! Ed

Rencoho, The drifters didn't do much better Sunday from what I saw and heard. Trolling is so much more prductive, but it's not everyones bag. You can cover more water and get the aggressive fish, instead of waiting for them to turn on.
EdB, I tried to call you on Sunday too, but the radio was so jammed with people stepping on each other(and me) I gave up and turned it down. I usually won't chase the Radio anyway, but it would have been nice to talk to you for a few. It seems like you got on your school at the right time. I was on the fish the whole time, but when they really turned on(about noon), we were already limited. The perch fishing was pretty slow for us, but the fish fry last night was worth the work.
That 1/4 oz. Blk/gld/red bill Hot-n-Tot was hot all last summer for me in that same area. Did you get those same '99 fish, 18-20 in?
Thanks Don, if you want to fill your freezer, let's get down there together, it should be good for a couple more weeks.
P.S. the water temp. went from 74 to 78 over the course of the day, It's hammer time!

1shot and I tried a little evening fishing on erie got started about 6 pm left at 8:30 pm with 9 nice eye's on an assortment of lures, reef runners, deep little ripers and tots anything that had chrome or chartruse. All fish were about 20 to 22 inches. We were in ohio waters a couple miles west of west sister in 29 ft of water.
We got those same 18-20 inch fish. I never had to measure one, we didn't have any in the 13-15 inch range. We did hit and let go about 6 - 6 to 8 inchers, good to see another year class coming up.
All my tot's are old style with metal bills, I already had a lot but bought an additional stockpile last year. I just picked up a few new style tot's in our best colors so far this year and I am going to run some side by side tests this weekend to see how they do.

I haven't tried the new Tot's, I don't like the idea of losing the flash of the metal lip. Maybe they will produce just as well, make sure you let us know the results of your "test" Ed!
Tim, the fish are everywhere, and on the bite. If your not getting fish every few minutes this time of year, change your spread up or move. There are so many schools out there, you'll find some on the bite.

Nice job Farmer John! Sorry to hear about the hook incident. How did you drive your tractor home? Or did you have the horse and buggy?

knockoff,
I dont think that you would lose the flash from the bill because the new hottys have a reflective tape on them to keep the shinyness. havnt used them to much tho.

Ray, what can I say? You have an open invitation to chum for me anytime!:D
Cute Marc, cute!:p
1shot, I know they have some flash, but put an old metal billed Tot back about 10 ft and a new one next to it, see the difference?
