A friend of mine is in need of some help and who better than good and knowledgeable friends on M-S. He has some cultured rock on the outside of his house and some of it has come loose. Anyone know of an epoxy type adhesive that he could shoot it with to get it to stick back up there? Hopefully a caulk gun dispensing type.

Why not re - mud it? Just buy a bag of mason's mix. mix up a small bit of it, and reapply. Otherwise, liquid nails adheres to nearly everything.

If it's just a stone here or there he could use heavy duty construction adhesive. But he's still going to have to mix up mortar to grout it. This is the same stuff you use to adhere the stones in the first place so I'd just buy a bag of the dry mix mortar and mix up a batch to reset the stones. Then when they're set up, mix up another batch and do the grouting. It should be no big deal. It sounds like they just weren't secured properly the first time.

:yeahthat:

Also, anytime we install cultured stone we add extra portland cement into every batch. It gives it extra strength and the mortar joints tend to crack less. If you mix a bucket full of mortar to reinstall your stone and "rake" joints with, put in approximately 1 pound of Type I portland cement. They'll never come off again.

Use ready mix mortar if the scrathch coat is still intact. butter the stone ( apply mortar)and place it back into position.
