This is a big river. You can fish from shore as I do,or boat.I would recommend at least a 16' V-Hull.I used a 7.5 hp. for years, but would rather have had a 20+. Fish are Steelhead,Walleye to 12#,Salmon,Cats,Bass. There are no shortages of turnouts, although more would be welcomed. Right now it's hit and miss for trout.Weather needs to warm alittle.Walleyes start in March and can be fish with good results til November. If you fish from the bank (break wall) a long handle net is needed.

I called Pro Bait in Port Huron 810 984 3232
They said the river had ice flows so I did not fish. Some souls are fishing between bergs, and getting a few though.A bit of rain and the right wind will find me fishing soon.

Trout, What's the best lure to use from shore? At Alognac, I've been somewhat successful with a jig and fuzzy grub. I've seen others use litle cleo's in blue and silver. Usually fish the St.Clair river in the fall months, Sept and Oct.

Cleo's,Red eyes,Bombers, etc all work.rooster tails have worked.I use crocadiles and live minnows bounced on the bottom with 4# test and a 10 1/2 ft. rod.I have seen LARGE BROWNS feeding on a very small black bug/fly? in mid winter.Minnows are my favorite.
