Well finally got to hit the river 3 nights in a row. the big action was kinda slow for Ladykiller and I but the fishing wasn't that bad.
Tuesday night we saw a bunch of gray drakes int he air at dark. it got too cold and the went back in the trees.l... managed a 15 incher and a break off for the the night.(Ladykiller got skunked as I recall)
Wed night, I saw stones at 9pm nothing after that. I missed on decent fish ended up with a skunk for the night.(Keinbaumer and ladykiller had similar results for the night. we turned some impressive fish on streamers and mice after dark though)
Thrs night... Ladykiller headed home early in the afternoon. I wanted too but just couldn't quit!
Basically it never got cold last night which was the problem the previous two nights.... at 9 pm the stomes were going strong.......at 9:30 I starteed to see gray drakes......at 9:45 the stuff hit the fan!!!! Racoon spinnerfall!!!!!!!!!!!
I started with a stonefly pattern, got nothing. swithced to a #12 roberts drakes...... Basically here is what you yould have seen if you watched me fish last night, for a solid 45 minutes..
Fish would rise... false cast let it drift....slurp....fish on!!! Ziiiiiiing,,,,fish off!!. I broke off 3 fish(Snapped 4lb line cleanly) before my blood knot broke and left me with with a ver short (6ft) leader with a little 6lb for the tippet.. I was running outta #12's so I put on a #8 .
First cast with the #8.. slurp....I think it was a smaller fish....It came out of the water and ripped upriver into a logjam...then downriver into a sweeper...another jump....another nice run then I mised it at the net and sent it back into a log....It then charged back at me and I netted her...Nice 17 incher.
There were more guys in my area last night(they stuck in closer too me) I heard the group upriver from me fishgting a big fish...They had that one on for a long time like 5 minutes....(Young kid had it! he was excited!!!!) the group below me had a very nice on feeding also I don't know if they got him or not.
anyways LADYKILLER YOU SHOULDA STAYED!!!! 8 nice fish up and feeding in my spot.
