Dave (Freetime) and I were talking about spin doctors this evening. Has anyone expierimented with the different hole patterns on the spin doctors? Placing the fly on either side or hooking the front to the rear hole instead of the foreward one? Doing a combo of both? Dave has a down camera and were were talking about playing around with it in the coming week and see what type of difference it makes. Tighter rotations vs wider more erratic action. Has anyone attempted this and if so what was the results?

I have used all of the back holes to hook the squid or flies up. I most always use the wildest hole. Am I hearing you right about trying to run it ***** backwards?? Let us know how it works out.:)

I've used all three settings. I'll run the inside in the spring in colder water and the outside for heavier baits, (squids, twin slams, squicncies) I've even run body baits on the inside & middle setting with success. If I run flies on the outside I use a longer leader increasing the 24" as far as 30" with good action. I've played with my flashers in the pool in front of the jets to simulate a trolling speed and it gives a pretty good view of the effects of different settings using different baits.

Regarding the holes in back, the one opposite of the fin is the fast action hole. I use this most of the time running slow to middle range speeds. If I am really trolling fast I will switch it to the slow action hole if I am not getting bites.

I don't think I ever troll slow enough to change the front hole to the back one. I think it's for under 1.5 mph and gives it a much wider rotation.

I did this a week ago before my Ludington trip. Was hoping none of my neighbors were watching me "fish" in my pool.

Just don't let the wife catch you in the bathtub naked with the spinnie testing in the spout current, or jets if you have 'em
