My property is very sandy with many pines. What grass seed do you think I should put down to thicken up the ground so it is not so bare.:dizzy:

Thanks for the info. I also have a shady yard with very sandy soil I would like to thinken up.
Is that what is also referred to as "highway mix"? The stuff they seed the medians and right-of-ways with?

We have a place same way in Honor.For the bare sandy area i used Rye.I enev plant this in 100% sand behine the pole barn.Grew nice.Grass wont grow with pine on the ground.Mich

"highway mix" might have some in it. It is usually stuff that will grow during adverse conditions such as highways.

If you go with rye really any time is good.But it will bring the deer in so ya know ;). Reason i like it as well,Mich
