Can anyone recommend a roomy climber stand that is also very quiet? Never had one before, but I found a perfect ambush site for one. The problem is there is very little cover up in the trees and it is close to a bedding area. That is why it needs to be quiet. Price is not an object either.
Thanks

I was looking at climbing tree stands and tried a friends this past weekend. His was a Summit Goliath and I liked it alot. As long as you do not rush going up the tree it seemed quiet. It is rated for 350 pound person so it is quite roomy and comfortable for a lighter weight person. They are $290 at Cabela's.

i have a summit 180 and love it. The only noise you have to avoid is clanking the aluminum together. I need to put some tape on it this year in a few spots to keep that from happening. Once you get the thing attached to the tree it is really quiet. If you want a stand for bow hunting only I would get one with an open front. Mine has a bar that wraps around the front.

I would not trade my API climber for anything else. No noise at all, even in temps close to zero. I can't say that about some other climbers I have owned.

Stick with steel and all welded construction for the quietest stand available. Might not be light, but will be quiet when the temps drop.

Most climbers are good as long as you practice with them and learn to climb slow. Just don't hurry it and you can be very quiet. Practice putting them on various trees both in the daylight and in the darkness.
You mentioned very little cover. There is a cover system that works fantastically. It is the PMI cover system. Although I don't use mine like Cabela pictures it in their catalog (I put the branches in front and side of me), I've used this item for 3 years now and absolutley love it. It is very easy to put on a stand or screw into a tree and you can bend the branches any way you want them. Yes, they do blow in a strong wind but I've found that to be no problem at all. I've even taken one or two of the branches in my hand when it is extremely windy and held them directly in front of my face while watching bucks and does come in. Works great.

I own an API bow hunter and a Lone Wolf Sit-n-climb. I like my API but it's no comparison to the LW. Don't want to say anything bad about API but as far as climbers go they aren't as light, or quiet as the LW. Both stands are very comfotable though.

I purchased a Summit Phyton after using my buddies tree lounger for bear hunting (didn't care for it) a few years ago. Bought my daughter a Viper a few years ago, love them both!
Take up Ninja on his offer and go out to KD and try a few dirrent ones.
Good Luck.
I would also recommend the Lone Wolf Sit & Climb for a quiet climber, but for a setup like you are describing a Tree Saddle would be the way to go. Have your tree already set up before season so you can sneak in early, hook up quietly with the Saddle, and kill your buck.

Thats pretty cool.. I do something similar.. I use freshly cut branches, usually the ones I trimmed to be able to climb the tree or for shooting lanes... I just cram them in the bottom of my stand where it meets the tree once Im at my desired height.... I can get some good cover that way.. This year I am going to take some bungee cords with me so I can get some higher up.. When I get ready to climb out I just pull em out and lay them on nearby tree branches and stuff so i dont have to hump em up and down the tree with me every time..
I also agree with the fact that you need to practice not only climbing in it, but also shooting from it..Last year was my first year with a climber and I did alot of pre-season practice with it.. By the time the opener came around I was very comfortable climbing with it.. Even in the dark..

I think most of the climbers will be quiet while sitting and climbing.Just as important, you should be able carry and setup the stand silently.
I have an api. that works after I did some tweaking.
