Headed out yesterday and went immediately to the
light to fish perch. Worked the channel area from
about a half mile south of the light to the northern
end of the channel. We ended of with 1 walleye and
a few perch but most were only in the 7 inch range.
After about 5 hours of this I headed over to Gino's
to drift the weed bed since the wind was strong enough
to push us around. We pulled up 9 more good perch,
a bass, and a large pumpkinseed. At around 6 it was
decided that it was time to leave so we slow trolled
back to metro and picked up 4 more walleyes on the
way in. The fishing was pretty slow yesterday and could
be due to the hatch of the may flies or the high pressure
that just landed in the area the day before.

Good report Ken. What did the eyes come on. Next time out for me is next tue. Either on the pond or up at the other spot. Some how we have to find those jumbos out in the lake. Maybe we'll have Gone Fishing find them this week end. Ok John?

Good job on the fish tubejig. Sounds like you put in some hours but at least you came home with some fish. I gave my coodinates fron last weekends Walleye trip to a friend that fished yesterday. He said the water was dirty and he only picked up one Walleye. I was using cranks and spoons and he was using harnesses so that may have had some effect. George, I don't usually fish Perch this late in the Spring but I am still hearing some decent reports from the Canadian side. I would think those fish should start getting scattered soon if they haven't already. The numbers of fish seem to be going down with each trip from what I hear. I'm not sure if I'll target Walleye, Muskie or Perch but I'll be out there somewhere and post my results. Good fishing all!

George, they came on red and black blades with dark
red beads. I was kind of surprised that this worked
since everything else has been on firetiger blades
with chartreuse beads.
Gone Fishing, yea I definately put the time in yesterday
and now I am paying for it with a bad***** sunburn, I kind
of look like a tomato thats been in the sun a little too
long. But it was worth it. I think I may hold off on the
pond for a couple weeks so the bugs can get the hatch
completed, unless of course I hear of a good report.
George, I will be checking that spot we talked about and
I will let you know what is up.

Tubejig, don't be afraid to fish Walleye during the fishfly hatch. As I mentioned in ESOX's post, those fishflies are like eating Chinese food. They will gorge themselves on them but they will soon be hungy again and hopefully that is just when I am pulling my baits by them. I have done quite well in recent years, even at the height of the hatch. Good luck and I hope you don't lose too much sleep with that sunburn.

tube, did you get blisters? if so, get some silver sulfadiazine. (kendall thermazene). it worked great on my bloody sun blisters. silver sulfadiazene cream is for burns. gotta have it if its bad.
not sure about fishing in the flies. did it once and wore a sweatshirt all day. on a boat there is no where to hide from them. atleast not mine. it is so nice to take a fish fly in the mouth!!!
if i make it out i will post my results.... as i needed advice i got some froma couple of friends. i have confidence now on how to run harnesses and baits......i just have to use it now! hopefully i figure out the garmin 240. if i go out and dont have to hang on to the boat the whole time like the last time i was out i will try and adjust it correctly... good luck all!!! i am having pig on sat. enjoy the flies!!!
