View Full Version : Switching from peep to kisser

I am currently making the switch from a peep sight with pins to using a kisser with pins. The issue I am having is that at 10yards with my pins maxed out at the top I am still hitting 2 inches high. Could this be a result of my anchor point, other words if I move my kisser higher would that help the arrows hit lower?

Yep! But it may be a double edged sword due to your anchor point being different as well. Only one way to find out.;)

Why not use both peep and a kisser my wife does and she does not have any problem even shot a robin hood in leagues.

You would want to move your kisser button lower on the string for your arrows to hit lower on the target .

I have heard of people using both a peep and a kisser before.
Thanks to the advice I received I was able to get my bow down to hitting a 3inch circle at 10 yards. Now I have to move out to 15 then 20.

From a hunting standpoint removing the peep was the best move Ive ever made. Now what I did was use both for awhile and then I removed the peep and all was sweet! Ill never go back to a peep on a hunting rig. Just me!

You need to start with your anchor point. Once you've established your anchor point you should set your peep, kisser, or both. I've always shot both but this year I'm getting rid of the kisser and just using my anchor point and a peep. Working out great so far. In your case I would have someone look at your anchor point and go from there.

I must be oposite of everyone else. Perhaps it is my vision, but I have trouble lining the string up with the pin. I need to have my peep sight. I also used to need my kisser button, but with my new bow, my anchor point is directly where my release is, so the need for a kisser button now might not matter. My train of thought, is keep it simple. Whatever works for you, go with it.

I like a peep myself but my hunting buddy swears by a kisser button.

Interesting thread!
i had been using a kisser for years and now with my new sight that has a level al the bottom I have removed my kisser and watch the level instead.
Has anyone else done this?:)

I'll stick with both.
When I knock an Arrow and line it up with my string my Pins ared directly behind the string just like they are suppost to be. Without the peep being in the center of the string I would have tolook to either side for the pins. Moving the pins out or in off of center would cause your Bow to be out of tune.
Just my opinion and reasoning to have both.

You cannot de-tune a bow by moving your pins. It has nothing to do with the bows performance. Only where you aim.;)

I will stick with both peep and kiss. I use the kiss as an anchor, and than I pick a spot on my nose for the string for a secondary anchor. It seems to make me more consistant. I seem to break more knocks. (Tubed arrows for my first time)

Moving your sight pins does not affect the tuning of your bow at all.
Using both a peep and kisser is a personal choice, and if the individual shoots better with both, and has more confidence, then that is the right choice.
Personally, I do not use a peep...I do not like the restricted vision in hunting situations.

I switched from a kisser to a peep when I got my new bow (PSE Mach X) last spring and my groups were instantly tighter. Some of the new peeps are quite large and you shouldn't have a problem with it, even in low light. I shoot in my basement (25 yds) and I practice with the lights low and I can see the target through the peep with no problem. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find the peep in low light in the field. So far so good.

Like I said it was just my opinion. I would rather have my arrow go straight from my bow to the target and not at some type of angle. I feel if the arrow, pins, and string are not in alignment the shooter has more of a chance at torqing there bow.
I feel comfortable shooting this way others may not.

And that was my point....if it works for you, and you have confidence in your ability, then it is the best choice for you.
There is no right way/wrong way when it comes to peep/no peep, it's all up to the individual, and what provides them with the best chances to confidently hit their intended target.

I recently made the switch to kisser only thanks to the help of KD outdoors.... I feel much more comfortable shooting and picking up my targets...Ive only had my bow back for just under 2 weeks now, and last Saturday I shot the first robin hood ever in my life..It was only 10 yards, but ive never shot tighter groups than I am today...

My biggest issue when I made the switch was the rather poor groupings I was getting and the fact that no matter how far I moved my pins I would always hit to the right of where I was aiming. When I took it to cooks sportland they pointed out that due to the current pins I had and the curve of my bow I was having to adjust my head and my bow to see the pins, they sat very far to the left. I purchased a new pin sight and now I am shooting very tight groups at 10 yards. My next goal is to get to an area where I can shoot 25-30yards and then shoot from a tree with my tree saddle.

ive been thinking of getting rid of the peep i just dont see the need for it with my kisser now, plus i think without it my visibility would be greater.
