I'm getting too old to run with the hounds, but I can still hear pretty good. I am hearing lots of coyotes on the State land north of Chelsea, Michigan. This is near Green lake in Washtenaw County. The area is part of the big Waterloo recreation area and has a healthy deer population too. There is lots of room to run hounds. Check it out with the local DNR first.
This coyote pack has a pattern that seems to bring them through the swampy Green lake area just off M-52, then north through the fields to North Territorrial road, by the abandoned gravel pit, then west to the Winnewana lake area. They seem to circle through about every 5 to 7 days. There was a den with pups in a field just south of Roe road this spring and summer. Right now the hay and wheat fields are being cut so there are lots of field mice to keep the pack fed and moving from field to field.
