Recently I've purchased a 20' Tracker Targa. I have two motors that could be used as a kicker. My 6 hp mariner slides right on the transom without a problem. But it does not push this heavy boat fast enough for muskie trolling. I have a 15 hp 4 stroke yamaha that I would like to use as my permanent kicker. But the transom is approx 1/8 inch to wide for the clamp on the motor to slip over. Since this motor is 130 lbs I dont want to mount a bracket on the back (all the brackets I found have max weight of 130 lbs). Is there any way I can bolt this 15 hp tiller to my tansom without utilizing factory clamp?

I would like to thank you in advance for you help.

Ryan

It shouls have bolt holes to do it.

How fast does the 6 push?

It will push it approx 3 mph but you have the wind it out.

In order to bolt it on I would have to remove the factory clamp?

Thanks for the reply Andy.

I am not sure, I guess you should post a pic so we can see. I kindof wanna put a kicker on my boat. i only have a 50 horse but would like to go the speed of nothing if I wanted too. No loot for a 4 stroke though

I ended up hacking off the c-cups on the mounting bracket. Then it just barely fit! I have a six horse sitting around doing nothing! pm me.

I should say no loot for a 4 stroke cause that is what I NEED. I would like to T it off my fuel line and run off my 27 gal built in tank. I have no room for a tank anywhere in the boat.

Thats exactly why I dont want to use the 6 horse. Much better when my reserve tank is not mixed for the kicker!
