Just a heads up. Look over your boat and check all your required boating equipment.
Wednesday the Wife and I were on the way into the docks when we were stopped by The CG. On board they had 5 persons. one Michigan State officer one DEA agent one Border patrol officer One Coast guard and one Dnr officer. They had all bases covered. Anyhow They were not stopping random boats they were stopping every boat. You will be boarded and checked.
On a good note The officers were efficient and polite and the stop didn't take up much time. Yes we passed our inspection and no we were not over our limit of Walleye:lol:.

Well they don't have to worry about me being over limit the way things have slowed for me lately.
Little off-topic, does anyone know if you are allowed to carry a concealed weapon on a boat in US water (with a CCW license), while fishing?

CCW.I don't see a problem if you stay in American waters and are not drinking. They did ask If I had any guns/weapons aboard.

Absolutly! Like Ed said, stay in American waters and no alcohol. Don't forget to declare you have a weapon and a CCW right away before they ask if you get stopped.

Niece crashed thru the baby gate and went for a pretty rough ride down the stairs the night before. I wanted to stop in and see her for a little bit, and make sure the new gate was installed to my liking. Then went to my parents house to hang a deer feeder for my mom. Can't trust that Slickfishing any farther than you can throw him..... I think he's under cover O.P.P.. I knew I was missing out on something dangit.

Well I will say this.. I was issued a $250.00 ticket last year for having lead bullets while duck hunting... I have a CPl and had my 45 on me, I was stopped and we were checked out by the DNR, CO, and Coast Guard. Told them that I was a CPL holder and I had my pistol with me. They went through the standerd checks and proceeded to write me a ticket for possesion of lead... I went to court to fight it and was not the winner:sad:
Judge said the the DNR can enforce the lead while waterfowel rule regardless of CPL...
Just thought I'd let you know

Now that is just plain stupid. Let's just do a little pass shooting with the 45s. I'm sorry but when the DNR does stuff like that. That is what gives them a bad name. Better not have a pencil or some sinkers in your pocket if you are out hunting for ducks either. Possesion of lead while waterfowling. Better get tungsten anchors for the decoys too.

Ya its stupid... But that’s what happens when laws are written vague and are left open to interpretation.. It did not end there as a result I had to go in front of the gun board and explain the violation. Luckily they did not agree with the judge and sent me on my way...
I can tell you this I won’t have it with me this year on the river for duck hunting

I was out musky fishing last week and we saw those two CG boats running around the lake!! Later on after the sun set we were trolling home to Jefferson beach marina. All of a sudden the two CG boats came flying up from behind us and proceded to run right over our planner board with two fishing lines running off of that board. We were trying to waive them off but they did not understand until they saw all the lines under their boat. Now obviously we stopped trolling and both of us were floating next to each other. It was a chinese fire drill on both boats. We had to pull all lines with musky weights andbaits and the CG boat had to tilt up their motor and untangle the planner board line along with two other fishing lines. By the time we were all untangled (10 minutes later) they pulled up next to us and said that we should have a light on the planner board and left. They were obviosly very embarresed and did not feel to good about themselves.
By the way went 2 for 2 on the Musky (american side) :)
I have never heard of putting a light on a planner board!!!
But I am glad they did run everything over after hearing what type of officers were on board. There were 5 officers on each of the two CG Boats.

We got boated by them last Friday night at 11:30pm when we were fishing out in front of Deckers. Passed the inspection no problem. They were all very polite and only took about 10 minutes.

You don't have to piss off the DNR officers.....they are that way already.
Two years ago I was duck hunting with a a couple buddies and a CO wrote one guy a ticket because he said he heard us unload our weapons two minutes after legal hours. We never fired any shots that evening and by the time he came up to us we had already picked up our spread. Well the guy that got the ticket fought it and got it dismissed. A week later we all got tickets in the mail for hunting after hours. Our lawyer got the the tickets taken under advisment (a one year probation). But the CO got his conviction and we had to pay the fine.

been approached by DNR both fishing and duck hunting and never had a problem. they pulled up next to us in the river one time, asked to see our licenses, asked us to hold up our smallest fish, thanked us for our cooperation and went on their way.
got approached once duck hunting, they asked us to empty our chambers and hand them our shotguns, they check for plugs, checked for licenses. we had a duck we were having trouble identifying and they looked it over and told us it was a gadwall. pulled out a pocket brochure for identifying ducks and let us keep it.

To be quite honest the encounter was very freindly. I was not sure if I was in the right or wrong so I just took the ticket and thought I'd fight it later if I was in the right.. The CO that wrote the ticket was a nice man until I got the ticket:lol:....
