Anyone have a new motorcycle helmet they are interested in selling at a discounted price. Obviously they say that you should never buy a used helmet---so I am looking for something new. My brother is taking basic motorcycle safety class this week and is looking to get one ASAP...let me know if anyone has one they are trying to get rid of. His melon is a large...probably and extra large. - See More Here: http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=7878

Get a good helmet, the best that money can buy. It's the only thing between being a vegetable or awake.

If he is taking a safety course, then he must be planning to do some riding. A helmet that fits correctly is important for both protection and comfort. Each manufacturer's helmet will fit slightly different for the same designated size. Some are mor round or oval or egg shaped, etc. The design also matters - Fullface, Full, Half, novelty etc.

All reasons to go shopping and try them on. DOT (Department of Transportation) approved is the MINIMUM crash test criteria required in Michigan. Many helmet makers provide substantially more protection than the DOT. Arai and Shoei are just a couple top notch helmet makers.

After thinking about it, reading the responses, and doing research online..I think that going in and buying the best...well not highest dollar...but best for the money...would be the best idea. Not the place to save a buck. Plus, no offense, but I have always heard that you should get a manufactured sealed/boxed helmet that you are sure has not been dropped or used-whatever...THink it would be wisest to go the store route.

I was recently in a motorcycle accident at speeds greater than 60 mph. Without that helmet, I wouldn't be typing this. I was wearing an HJC CL-15, which is around $125-150 on the net or in stores. It worked so well that I bought the same one with my new bike. I bought my girlfriend and HJC CL-12 for about $100.00. Money well spent. She's already crazy, I don't want her any worse.

I got a couple,I'd be willing to lend him one so he could take the course,at least then he wouldn't be so pressed to buy one and he'd have time to shop for one
