Hey fellas, need some expertise from those of you that are more experienced in outboards than myself. Here's the scenario. I might have found a motor for my out of action boat. It's a 78 Johnson, 60 horse outboard. Pretty cheap, could be a nice deal. Only one thing wrong with it the guy says. According to the seller, it runs like a champ, but every other trip or so, it keeps blowing a fuse. Apparently, there's an inline fuse, near the front of the power head, and after so many hours, it blows this fuse and quits. And then you have to have spare fuses on board to get her goin again. I know nothing at all about this sort of thing. So....any advice?? Is this an easy fix?? Is the motor safe to buy?? Or is it an anchor in the making?? Thanks in advance for any help fellas.:)

You may want to call a Johnson dealer and ask them about it. Does it pump water when its running? Was the impeller ever changed? It could be some sort of thermal fuse to protect the motor from overheating, when it gets to hot the fuse blows. Just a thought ;)
