The wife and I stoped at a garage sale to day in Capac and found this old handling reel "Shaller" for $20.00 and it was owned by a little old lady that only used it on sundays:lol: Cya Slick

Aaaah yes, My foster child looks great in its proper position now that it's got a new home. So go get its line wet. Remember I still got visitation rights  and I may need to show up on occasions to make sure your treating it right. I likes to go fishing at least three times a week! If it shows signs of getting lonely you may have to adopt a Playmate. She"ll probably be drop dead gorgeous too!

Thanks guys she is a beauty no doubt about that, I was as giddy as a school girl on her first date when Bill e-mailed me and told come on and pick her up and I am like I will be there in a hour:lol:..

Fishious she will be well taken care dont you worry and yes she made need a playmate but not right now:lol: visitors on the boat are going to have to use some other sort of reel but not a beauty like this at least not yet, I will stay in touch;)..

This reel will never leave my side because sure I could have went out and bought a new A&S but this reel his like stepping back in time and buying them when they first came out, in other words it's a work of art at least that is how I feel about it and no Curt $25.00 just wont do it LOL ...
I took it down to my buddy two doors down and showed him because he has been handlining before the victrola and he was like man that is the nicest Shaller he has ever seen and I was like a proud papa:lol:..

Kev no the Gulp stays, I still love to bottom bounce and jig even tho I am having fun pulling wire tho, it's pretty cool..

Marknfish you lost two reels:yikes:yes I feel the saftey rope is a must have, dont wanna take any chances.. Today starts a huge garage sale that run from new baltimore to Port Austin and I need to get my butt ready and see what other old fishing gear I can find today.. Cya Slick

Well, keep on the lookout anyway because I'm in the market for another one. I need two for each boat! (and maybe a backup for each boat as well).

Dang, I'm starting to sound like Houghton Laker!

Sometimes I come accross a deal on a used one, and will keep an eye out for ya. My bud saw one at a garage sale by 12 & schoenherr and told me, but when I went to check it out, it was in bad shape and she still wanted $50.00. It needed new wire and it kept sticking when line went in or out, probably was dropped a few times too many. If you want one brand new, try Proffessional Fisherman (?) on Jefferson by the spillway. He will beat most prices. seeyalater

professional beat prices!?! must of changed there ways, they are more expensive than any other bait shop, cabala or gaunder moutain, even more expensive than lakeside if you believe that. i avoid that place, i live near there and i would rather drive to gaunder mountain than go the professional, and i only hit lakeside if i have to.

and i only hit lakeside if i have to.

I don't mind giving them the business except for my minnows ...I go elsewhere for those....they always treat me nice and have a excellent location to take care of us fishermen...with a nice selection of needed items

professional beat prices!?!
At the end of last winter Professional had the best "end of season" sale on ice shanties in the area. It started with the Novi show and extended to their shop.

Me, I would rather pay a tiny bit more at Lakeside than spend the money on gas and wear and tear on my truck driving to the big box stores.

Just picked up 2 new tires for the back axle and gotta put a small amount of money into a link in the front suspension. So, keeping the miles on the truck down and that means staying away from the big stores unless I am already driving past them.
