Looking for a trailer to move a '31 Tiara from St. Clair to Ludington. If anyone has something, shoot me an email. Deal is going down now and will need to be moved in 1-2 weeks. Thanks.

Bill,

If the beam is over 9' (which I assume it is at 31') the move is gonna kill yah....It's an individual permit for each county now or so I am told...600.00 to move my boat 18 miles...300.00 to move it 30 feet...I know there isn't a rentable trailer from any of the marinas here in Ludtown due to liability...I am looking to buy/build a trailer for next year. I am not paying those prices if I can help it. If you have to have it moved get ahold of Don Johnson at Johnson's Marine (231-843-2044)....He is the cheapest around here for moving big boats...

I'm gonna move it myself, I know the Big Dmax can handle it. I haven't looked into the cost of permits yet, but I know it was $15 per move last time I checked. My boat is 10' wide, but I never have pulled one for it. I will get with MDOT and find out. I do have a buddy with a 30 Baha that has a trailer and it should work out, just gotta compare deadrise\thru hull\etc.. placements between both.

If your looking at buying a trailer, Nextrail make great trailers for a good price ( http://www.nextrailofamerica.com/features.htm ). Not the biggest fan of Johnson's. Just about everyone on my dock has atleast one story about getting screwd by him. I saw an autopilot that was installed by him with the compass mounted to a bulkhead right next to a breaker panel with 3 batteries behind it . On top of that, it was mounted upside down:coco:. Another guy has Him put his boat in the slip for him this spring and they ran the bow up on the dock and hit is dock box. Guy on D dock just put $25k in new motors in his boat and when johnsons lauched it and slipped it, they left the drain plug out :yikes:. Buddy Jerry asked them to go ovet the Lower units in his Sea Ray, which they charged him for. When he got to the boat in the spring, he noticed alge still on the edges of the I/O gasket. They charged him for work they never did. You gotta watch that guy :dizzy:

Naw, Bob.... Not for me..... Yet :). My good buddy is looking at one right now and I'm gonna save him some loot from running it around and just tow it over myself. But if you know anyone looking for a Good, qualty 28 fter with a hugh cockpit, ability to sleep 4-5 and can still be trailered, this is the boat to buy. Great on gas and has proven to be a fish killin' machine. I'm gonna be listing my boat in the next yr and moving up to Tiara hopefully by mid to late '08.

I figured your about due to upgrade again.

I'm keeping my rig till I can move up to a Tiara myself. Probably not for a few more years.....

Salmon-Bum:

I do not think they sleep five people but a 28' or 32' Carolina Classic would be really nice. :) Don't think they are too trailer friendly though.

I was talking about selling my boat. It sleeps 4-5 and can be trailered. 28' Carolina is a nice boat, but the cabin is much smaller than mine.

I'm either going with a Tiara or Blackfin. Those are the only two.

Either of those will do too...
