I keep reading about you guys tuning in your bow. What, exactly, does that mean? What is involved with that? Can it be done by yourself? And if not, how much does it cost to have a shop do it?

It will mean different things depending on the type of bow you shoot(recurve or compound).
Do a search for paper tuning and group tuning. Basically in a nut shell its tuning your rest, knock and peep and even your draw length to get the best arrow fight from your bow. Idealy you want your arrows flying straight upon release and also your broadheads and target tips hitting the same place. The goal is to get the arrow to hit the target as squarly as possible.
Go to archery talk.com and do a search for the above tuning methods to start.
Make sure your arrows are also properly spined. If shooting broadheads make sure they spin well and dont wobble.
Do some research and then post anymore questions you have. Its confusing at first but it does get easeiar.
I usually start with paper tuning my bow with broad heads then group tune. Then I mostly practice with target tipps since they shoot the same as my broadheads once the bow is tuned.
I would post links but none are working in my bookmarks, sorry.

They're all correct actually Chuck
Paper is shooting it through paper to observe the tear.
Walkback is to adjust the rest to perfect centershot.
Group is to tune to the particular arrows or B heads.
Drop tine....that's a loooong answer buddy:D
It can all be done yourself but can become frustrating the first couple times.
Best bet it to find a good shop to help you out to start. Tell them your interested in what they do and how they do it and ask them to explain what and why they're doin what they do.

Yeah...what he said.
And it starts at around 25 bucks to have a good Pro-Shop get you going.

I for one can vouch for Dave the Bowtech at KD!! EXTREMELY knowledgeable and one of the few techs I know that won't make you feel as if you are inferior because you may not know something. Truly a great guy working in a great shop!;)
