Anybody know of some local charities that will make hunting and fishing dreams come true. Sort of like the Make A Wish Foundation. But the difference is they will take a kid hunting or fishing.

I'm just looking for some possibilities.

Right now the two I know of on my list are:
Hunt of a Lifetime
Joseph's Journey Foundation

The latter i'm not sure if they do anything in michigan i'm waiting an email response.

Thanks

-Jim

Jimmy,
I know there's a guy on here that is deeply involved in such an organization. Forget his name right now. I'm sure he'll pop up. I've donated at outdoorama a few times at their booth

The Make a Wish was first thought of. However, I've been told they will not grant wishes for kids that want to do a hunting or fishing activity.

But contacting the Helen Devos Childrens Hospital or perhaps the Lacks Cancer Center at St Mary's would be a good avenue.

Although I do like the Benifit4kids and what they are offering to the youth of Michigan.

Thanks guys keep the ideas comming please.

I would like a list of as many as possible to begin some discussions.

Jim,
MAW does grant fishing wishes. They begrudgingly gave into pressure and stopped granting shooting sport or hunting wishes 7 or so years ago when their donations from big money liberals were threatened by anti hunting groups. They refer all hunting wishes and work closely with the hunt of a lifetime organization.

Although it saddens me that they caved to the anti hunters, I can respect their decision in the big picture. They would rather grant lots of wishes other than hunting instead of granting fewer wishes and including hunting. Many people comment that MAW has an anti hunting stance which is not true.

All of these organizations are great and the help and magic does not end after the wish which is something that not many know about.

Good luck in your search!

How far do you want to go? There is a fellow in Marion who does this. If you want his name, PM me and I will try to get it for you.

I don't think you can't get much more local Michigan than tails a waggin.
He is active on the dog training site.

I don't know any details, but it sounds like he does some good things for local youth and encouraging participation. He would be a great place to start.

Thank you also to TGA I wasn't aware of some of the things you had stated. Thank you.

Bye the way are your buddies doing the Make A Wish Tourney out of Muskegon again this year?

Unfortunately no. The new local president is not a fisherman and did not see the value in holding the tourney. It's officially dead:(

Thanks Fellas.
