Just wondering if you guys and gals got your kids(dont forget about them nieces, nephews, grandkids, or any youths) out shooting yet.
I know its hot outside and its hard for (some) kids to think about deer hunting right now, but nows time to be getting them ready for this season if you havent already.
They may just thank you for all that practice come this fall when they're getting their picture taken with their deer.:)

Well my little guy is only two but hes been working on it. Last night he found an old release and was figuring it out with his little plastic bow. His favorite is helping daddy by holding arrows when I'm shooting. His newest thing is putting the bow in the truck when we leave for day care in the morning. For some reason he just likes having the bow in the truck. He's still got a year or two before he starts shooting but its fun watching him learn the concept.

My oldest boy shoots 3D with me all the time. Took him to the R100 this year, and he is still talking about it!
We are shooting again this Friday with Sbooy42 in Traverse City!

I haven't even been out practicing myself yet this year!
However, I did take the old youth bow (Browning Micro-Midas) to the shop for a new string and then handed it down to my 10 year old nephew. All three of my children learned to shoot with this same bow.
Last night, my 14 year odl daughter and I were watching hunting videos and talking about the upcoming youth and archery season. At 11:30 she says "Dad, lets go check out my bow and see how much weight I can pull this year". Her draw length was perfect, and she was pulling the 35 pounds it was set at last year. I think she will easily get up closer to 40 pounds this season. She took her first deer at 12 years old (2005 season) shooting this bow at 30 pounds!
I am also going to have to increase the draw length on my 17 year old son's bow and re-tune that as well.
The cool thing about this post is that last night I decided that this week I HAD to get started!

As a matter of fact I had my 7 yr old daughter, who has shot for 3 yrs and my 5 yr old daughter who has shot for 2 yrs out shooting last night. I am looking at getting a genesis bow so that the girls, my 14 yr old step daughter and my wife can all join me and my 15 yr old step son in the backyard for our practice sessions. I have found it is more enjoyable with them. I also have found I get FAR less shooting done.

Hey, you betcha! Introduced my kids to it this year as a matter of fact. Main reason was I was picking it back up after being away from it a long time. I was sick and tired of not getting my family involved in the out-of-doors and not getting myself out there! My 9 year old is not bad, can hit the target pretty regularly. My 6 year old has some work to do. If they keep the interest I'm going to be looking for a better bow for them next year. Didn't want to drop a lot of money until I knew for sure, though.

My 2.5 year old is obsessed with bows. Everything he picks up is his "bow" and he would rather watch hunting shows than cartoons. I bought him a little 9lb draw fiberglass bow for this christmas, and will eventually introduce the arrows. He loves to help me pull and carry arrows while I shoot, and likes to read the latest basspro or cabelas catalog while potty training. People used to ask me what I would do if he wasn't into hunting or fishing like I am. Well, no worries here. As long as you make it fun for them, you will have a well adjusted hunting buddy for life.:D
