Beavers have invaded my deer hunting area, a swamp with a creek running through it. I had a guy trap it last year and he only caught one but they are still in the area.

Does anyone know of a way to eliminate them other than trapping or to get them to vacate the area?

I don't want to trap them this fall because the constant intrusion into the swam will mess up the deer hunting.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

PK

PKleppert,

Where are is this place at??? For what it worth if a guy started trapping this swamp in the fall he would not bother the deer. After a few days the deer know the smell and look of the trapper and they could careless about him. And YES thats a fact. I have been trapping for a while and the deer never left because I was trapping.

i second that. the deer get use to the trapper coming and going. trapping is the best way to remove the beaver.

Thanks for the replys. I trust your experiences but I'm not willing to take the chance so I'll probably look for a trapper to come out in January. I'm in SW MI near Three Rivers.

Thanks again

One of these days I'm going to start carrying my .480 Ruger when I'm trapping. I can't count how many deer I could have shot! I think they KNOW when you aren't hunting them. Or maybe it's the fish oil, Hardcore and Fur King cover scent! lol Anyway, thye usually just stand there and look at me unless I walk toward them.

If you can get your trapper to hit them after ice-out in the spring, they should have no problem taking care of it.

Got a nice 8point last year. Seen him most every day in a heavly hunted area wile out trapping down in the thick stuff. Tward the end of deer season I decided to after him.The first night I could not get a good shot but the second he walked right in frount of me.Even though I had jumped him up several times out trapping he never went far and was always there the nexed day.
