I have been using a Daiwa Laguna UL spinning reel for two years now. Ive never done anything to it or greesed it. It makes a noticable grinding noise when i reel it, but still reels smooth. Another really annoying problem that just started happening is the bail does not automatically close when your begin to retreive. Is there a springf or screw to adjust? Not too sure about takling it apart beyond changing spools. What should I do? Not sure where to greese or what kind, if necessary. Thanks.

first off is it a front drag, or rear drag? If it is a front drag, spin the drag adjustment all the way out, you should be able to take the spool off the reel. sometimes sand/dirt can get in the back side of the spool and make some real nasty sounds. spray some reel magic in the back of the spool and wipe it clean with a soft towel. if you want to grease the gears, you have to pull the lock nut off the reel that is on the shaft the spool attaches to. I find that it is not usually nessasary to do this unless the reel has gotten left in the water for a long period of time, or has lost its smoothness......hope this sheds some light.........

I try to oil and grease my reels every year. Keep it simple at first. Take the spool off (loosen the drag till it comes off) then put a drop of reel oil on the shaft. Turn the handle a few times and your all set. Next take the handle and side plate off, wipe off excess grease off the gears and add some new reel grease. Put it back together and you should be all set. If the grinding is still occuring you probably have sand or dirt in it and it needs to be taken apart. If you are not comfortable doing that you may want to have a professional do it.

thanks for the feedback- I will try the real magic. hopefully it helps
Also spray the bottom end of the rotor where it meets the reel body with some WD-40. Sand has a nasty habit of getting lodged in there.
