A good friend of mine (Rich, the tourney director for the Kellogsville Sportspersons trail) is setting up a fundraising tournament on Hardy. It's $35 a boat, with $20 of each entry fee going to help offset the expenses for cancer treatment of a young woman associated with the Kellogsville group (her name is being withheld for her privacy, but if you have questions you can get a hold of me and I'll give you more detail if needed). Payback amounts will depend on the number of boats entered. There will be raffle items at the weigh in (I'm working on getting some things from West Marine to donate to this raffle).

Registration will start at 5:45 am at the Brower Park ramp. Take off is at 7:00 am with a 2:00 pm weigh in. You must be in the ramp lagoon/beached by 2:00.

I've fished several of Rich's charity events as well as the Kellogsville tournies and they've always been a well run and organized event.

Here's the rules:

*2 person teams
*5 fish limit. All fish must measure 14"
*Dead fish penalty is 1/4 lb
*All Michigan DNR laws apply
*Courtesy to other boaters and tournament anglers is a must
*Obey all posted no wake areas
*Short fish will be culled along with largest fish in your bag. An official bump board will be provided for you to courtesy bump your own fish.

This is a great opportunity to help out a person from our community by doing what we love to do, fish. If you are interested in participating simply show up to the Brower Park ramp on the 25th and register. I don't normally like to fish Hardy, but I'll be there for this cause.

Hope to see some of you there.

Mike

Sorry for the novice question...

But was is the bump/cull of the smallest fish vs the largest fish??

""Short fish will be culled along with largest fish in your bag. An official bump board will be provided for you to courtesy bump your own fish""

thanx...

If you bring a close to 14" fish to the weigh in that YOU do not bump (measure) on the official board BEFORE you weigh it in (this is called a courtesy bump), the person running the weigh in can pull that fish out of the bag and measure it himself. If he measures it and it comes up short of 14 inches, that fish along with your largest fish will be thrown out.
