View Full Version : (Michigan) Center Lake

My cousin and i are thinking about fishing Center Lake in Jackson on saturday. Never heard of the lake but saw it in my book of maps and it looks like it has a good population of pike and bluegill and those just happen to be what we want to catch. Does any one have any experience on the lake? Is it worth my gas money to go out there? Any pointers would be great.

fairly shallow Ryan..lots of stumps and weeds..stay close to the river channel or the one deep hole at the southern end...never fished it for gills.. only bass n pike...my one success on a 'storm flatwart' came here..a 34 inch northern...good luck if you try her.for shallow , i prefer austin lake(near kalamazoo) and gills the portage chain, near pinckney(base line and channels between lakes ,allthe way to zukey)...ya want a challenge? try lotus/maceday for splake and trout during this 'heat wave'...:evilsmile

Used to fish it all the time years ago. Loaded with bass AND stumps as Bill has stated. Center is one a series of lakes connected by canals. You should be able to motor to several of them if you choose.

Friends of mine used to live on the lake and we always did well on bass along the south side among the stumps. Pike are subject to be anywheres on the lake.

Bill remember i have a little boat not a fancy one like yours:lol:! I dont think i will have to much trouble with the stumps and if i do thats what my cousin is for on the bow telling me wich way to turn. Keep the info coming guys i appreciate it!

water clarity not greatest..especially after a rain..them stumps have a way of eatin boats..i think they move!:evilsmile

ya ever try vineyard in wamplers area? they have fair pike and pan..but weekends get crazy...heron or big 7 are good choices for non motor type lakes with fair to good fishin..you don't like oakland county? lots of lakes with prettyfair prospects

I dont like going to the real busy lakes and a lot of the oakland county lakes seem to get pretty busy.

no other info? I will have a report tomorrow night. Hopefully it will be complete with pictures of big pike.
